It's revealed on the question forum on Don Bluth's website that he and Dragonstone (developer of Dragon's Lair 3D) have plans to make a new 3D game based on the upcoming movie. As Dragonstone reviews the movie script and creating a design document along with it, they're also considering a patch (for the PC version, no doubt) or possibly even a full sequel for Dragon's Lair 3D if the game performs well finacially.
Bluth also reveals on the page that there will be (suprise, suprise) no laser disc sequel to Dragon's Lair or Space Ace. The last laser disc production house shut down last year, pressing 400 discs for arcade aficionados whose cabinets are apparently rotting. (And I guess the yellowing on the SNES is some form of gangrene.)
Alright!!!! I guess the existing Dragon's Lair 3D title has been pretty successful to warrant a sequel. I am definitely looking forward to Space Ace being revived!
