Thread: Amazon's Zelda "Deal"

  1. So you're saying that "not for retail sale" means "you're legally allowed to do it, but we're telling you nicely, so please don't." Nah, that just doesn't sound right.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

It can't be illegal. What law is it breaking? The Not For Re-Sale Video Game Act of 1997? Come on. Amazon's stance on this is awful, but it is perfectly legal.

  3. Well when Amazon gets these discs, aren't they meant to be given away with each pre-ordered Zelda? Charging $70 for something that's supposed to be free seems like blatant price gouging, something I could have sworn was illegal.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

  4. I don't know if price gouging, in and of itself, is illegal. It wouldn't surprise me if it was.

  5. The idiocy in this thread is just amazing, and it's coming from places I'd expect, and some I wouldn't. CybrGamr's arguement is the most ridiculous that I've ever had the honor to witness.

  6. "Let me get this straight, your assumption is more valid than anyone else's?"

I never made any claim. The first post made the statement that Amazon was price gouging. I simply said we do not know that it was Amazon or if it is a deal they have worked out with Nintendo. I have said nothing more than that. We do not know that Amazon did this by themselves.

"The bonus disc is only available as a *bonus* from Nintendo with purchases of TWW. There is no legit separate retail copy."

You do not know this. As the largest distributor on the internet, Nintendo may very well have made them available to Amazon separately.

That is my point exactly. Everyone has jumped all over Amazon with not a shred of proof if their offer is valid or not.

"CybrGamr's arguement is the most ridiculous that I've ever had the honor to witness."

The best part is - I have made no argument. I simply don't believe we have any facts to support that Amazon is price gouging. Nothing more. You all have made the assumption that the only way Amazon will get the game is through the bundle - for free with purchases of Wind Waker - and that they will sell the bundled copy for $70 separately. That may not be true and none of us have any proof to the contrary. All we know is that Amazon is selling the bonus disc for $70. We do not know how they will obtain it or where they got that price from. We have only made an assumption.

  7. Why don't you guys just e-mail Amazon.com and ask them what the deal with this Zelda bonus disc thing is?

  8. will: cybr already emailed them about it..

the response i'm expecting him to get:

" yes, the Zelda bonus disc is...ah...well, uh.. um.. OMGZ LOOK OVER THERE! *runs* "
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  9. Sadly, that probably will be their response. Well, when they get to it in a couple of months.
