Without powers, Superman is a bitch, a normal guy that can't really fight since he relies on Alien fucking powers to do things.

In that issue Batman uses a ring. Superman gave Batman the ring but probably for a 'just in case' matter. Batman actually could possibly take down the whole JLA using his countermeasures which were used by Ras Al Ghoul in a story called 'Tower of Babel' which was one of my favorite JLA stories, you should still be able to find it in TPB form Matt.

He does get a few well placed punches and manages to get the best of Superman using his keen intellect like using Lois for bait(with help from Catwoman) just as Superman was about to smash a car on Batman. He also noticed Superman was holding back while he was fighting him so that adds another thing. All Supes did was freeze Batman's ring hand really and tried to fry Batman and Catwoman with his heat vision to no avail. At this part of the storyline Poison Ivy had Superman under her control which is why Superman fought Batman.

Anyway unprepared Superman throws Batman into space or just punches his head off, prepared Batman is more than capable.

I'm not talking about that issue. I've never read it. Superman gave Batman a chunk of it long ago, what he did with it, I don't know.

In The Dark Knight Returns, it's not kryptonite, it's a synthetic kryptonite, that Batman makes, and green arrow shoots at superman.

I read tower of babel a couple weeks back, was pretty good. Not a bad story at all. Not really a fan of JLA, but there are some really good TPB's of them that I've read in the last few weeks. Kingdom Come was great as well, though the 2nd one sucked.

Anyways, my contention is not nor was that Batman beats up Superman.

It's that Batman beats up Superman without powers, or if he has time to trap Superman, like in TDKSB, where he, atom, flash and green arrow beat him up.
