Thread: EA closes down Westwood

  1. So, if EA buys Sega, you won't buy EA-Sega games or something? Or just the hockey thing.

  2. Origin, Bullforg, Westwood and how many others? Maxis had better not fuck up.

I spoke to Sidez in breif about this: I would MUCH rather see Ed Fries get his hands on Vivendi than EA. EA has released blockbusters under thier name, but the makers of those and thier divisions were spurned for whatever reason. Molyneux's distaste for publishers and traditional software business because of his work with EA at Bullfrog. I think Microsoft would make a good suitor for Vivendi. That would give them good ground on PC, Mac and Xbox and if desired, Palm PC. 3 large platforms aint bad.

If the Sega part of "EA-Sega" still put out the same quality product I am accustomed to I'd certainly continue buying the games. Like I said in my reply to Ammadeau's post way back in the beginning of the thread - all I really care about is the games.

If "EA-Sega" ever came to pass I'd also hope they'd use Treyarch/VC to make their hockey game instead of whoever the hell makes the junk they make now.

Edit: Or even better yet - I'd hope that Black Box stopped developing NHL Hitz and went back to making more a sim style hockey game. They're the best hockey game developers out there (based on their work on the old Powerplay/All-Star/Fox series and the original NHL2K). I actually hope this happens regardless of what happens because I am confident they could make a hockey game better than EA or Sega.

Plus the crapp-o ESPN/Sega thing would not be an issue then either.

Are you talking about Warcraft 3?

  6. If EA bought sega I bet they would change the name to something creative like, EA-West, or EA-Japan.
    Barf! Barf! Barf!

I always wondered why there was a DK3 movie on the DK2 disk and there was never a game.

Which is a Lionhead game. Irony much?

Of course, Pete didn't have to sell out, now did he? It's not like he's blameless for all of this.

They supported the various Jane's titles for 5-6 years, releasing such gems like Longbow 1/2, 688i, F-15, and F/A-18.

American McGee's Alice. As hyped as it was, it's still niche.
