Thread: Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO to feature significant changes

  1. Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO to feature significant changes

February is just around the corner and many fighting enthusiasts eagerly await the release of Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO for Xbox Live. Avid fans, notably those in the tournament community have signifcant concerns regarding how the latest translation will fare on the platform (Capcom does have a knack for disrupting the original parameters introduced from the arcade installment). A forum patron (known as Bahn Yuki) over at the Shoryuken.com forums has reported some of the alleged changes which include improvements such as enhanced backgrounds and adjustments to respective grooves (Super Cancels in P-Groove anyone?)

Below is an outline of what we can possibly expect to see when the game ships Feburary 11. Please note that the following information is not an official announcement from Capcom USA and should thus be examined as entirely as a rumor until details are confirmed.

The backgrounds and resolution have both been increased (said to be sharper then all existing versions, including the Dreamcast).

"Arcade perfect" controls.

Load time are non-existant (?)

The Xbox edition will incorporate the Xbox Dolby Digital 5.1 technology. Hear every sound effect as it was intended in true, high-definition glory!

Sprite resolution in contrast to the Dreamcast edition is said to be lower. (It's been speculated that the comparison was experienced on a HDTV, thus it's very likely if players using a standard television will even notice the difference)

This battle is about to explode...

The following is outlined to be the true highlights of the Xbox edition...

Top tier characters do less damage than before

Low tier characters do more damage than before, and in some cases (i.e. Kyosuke and Yun), their vitality has also been increased

S-Groove will have a quicker charge rate (although it still won't be as fast as Capcom vs. SNK) and dissipates slower.

P-Groove will feature Super Cancelling akin to Street Fighter 3. Note: The juggle system is a lot more lenient than SF3. It has not been determined at this time at which point during a character's respective animation frames allow for the Super Cancel to take place.

Miscellaenous changes such as Cmmy's Cannon Strike will have less lag unlike the original parameters).

Gamespot recently featured their impressions which notes the game plays virtually with little or no slowdown whatsoever. Have fighting games finally reached their dream of true, authentic online play as it was meant to be? We will soon see when the game hits next month!

  2. *dies*

I would venture to guess that the game will load the characters into the hard-drive to eliminate load times. Thoughts?
