Thread: Underrated Fighting Game Characters

  1. Underrated Fighting Game Characters

Who are the guys you go to in fighting games that no one else goes to. Why do you go to them?

Two, right off the top of my head-

    Wan Fu
    Samurai Shodown II
In a game with all time great characters like Ukyo and Genjuro, Wan Fu gets passed over. He's probably my favorite character in Samurai Shodown II. An offensive Juggernaut, he fights like an explosion. His confucious thunder bomb is one of, if not my all time favorite moves. He has some great win poses as well. Plus, he fights with a stone pillar. What kind of badd ass uses a stone pillar?

    The other-

    Shikyo/Muroko
    Last Blade 1/2
I can't really say if he';s's underused, but I never hear anyone speaking of him. I was playing Last Blade last night (Ownage), and I picked Shikyo. As much as I wanted Amano to be my character of chooice, I think it will end up with Shikyo. He's unpredictable as can be. And, I love his insane look and design. he's definitely one of the best characters in my recent memory.

"I can vouch - there is nothing, and I mean NOTHING, like owning your own Neo Geo. To touch it, to look at it, to feel the kerchunk of a mammoth VHS sized cartridge plugging in. To turn it on and hear the "doodlydoo," and then sit or stand and play with those huge joysticks. To play on your TV or your monitor and just revel in the badass arcade feel of it."

  2. Daimon Goro from KoF:

A total powerhouse with spectacular, insanely damaging and demoralizing throw combos and counters. If you're really good with him, you can keep an inferior opponent from ever standing up. The fact that they've left him out of the last few games (as a fully playable character) has been a big disappointment to me.

    Oro from SF3:

A character with a few really damaging combos, some tricky moves, and an answer for every situation. His EX Kishin Riki is the most spectacular move in the game. He's incredibly versatile, but not as ridiculously overpowered as Yun/Yang or Alex so he doesn't get used much. My fave SF3 character nonetheless.

  4. Sakura: SF Alpha series, Vs. series: She was eaisily a Ryu/Ken clone but had some sweet ass supers.

  6. StryderKyo: I know a few Oro players, and they are unbelievable!

My vote goes to Karin from the Alpha games.

  7. Mauru, that big purple rabbit thing from Waku Waku 7! He has the fastest super in the game and is a great character design on top of that.

  8. No way, Karin is *MY* top obscure fighter, damn it...well, all right, we can share. I love her style and animation, and I'll probably buy SFA3 on GBA just so I can use her again, as Capcom was lame enough to keep her out of any other franchise.

    Others....

CvS2: King. She's not really that great, and most of her stuff is low priority, and she's sort-of a fireball whore, but still, she's my fave from that game. -and I think she's cute, too, even though everyone I play calls her a "he-she" or something...damn fools! -it's obvious she's a girl, okay?? -ahem.

Tekken 4: Well, it doesn't really have enough characters for any to be obscure, per se, but I seem to be one of the few people that pick Bryan anymore.

TTT: Jun. Mostly because she sucked so bad, that *somebody* had to give her some lovin'.

MvC2: B.B. Hood (Bulleta). I like charge characters, and she complimented my Guile/Nash team really well...I was then sort-of surprised when she took over, and became team Captain. Sentinels and Cables around the world feared her, damnit!

Why they continue to snub Karin is beyond me. I think she's an excellent character all round. Fighting style, animation, and design. She's got it all. Glad to see I'm not alone.

Bulleta is a whore...and I mean that in a good way. My friend, Carl, loves him some charge goodness. Guile? Yes please! Bulleta? Hot damn!

He had my number with his Bulleta/Guile team (it didn't even matter who his third pick was...he owned me). And that super she has, Cool Hunting, even if you block it, you're screwed (unless you crouch block )!

I've found a good Doom can beat her (and my Doom is excellent), and of course Mags...but he owns everyone.
