Thread: Are we over the new Zelda look yet?

  1. Are we over the new Zelda look yet?

Just out of curiosity, are we over the shock of the new Zelda look yet? I know I never really had a problem with it, but I keep hearing people ragging on it. I thought by now everyone would have moved on.

I've played a bit of the demo, not a lot unfortunately, and I can't wait to play the whole thing. I find the style really compliments the series in ways the N64 look just didn't do.

A lot of the problem to me seems to be that the game people want, the original realistic Zelda demo, isn't actually a Zelda game. Yes they could have made it, it would have sold like mad over here, and it would have been nothing like the SNES/GBC games, not to mention the NES ones of course.

Anyway, I'm beginning to hear the "I can't believe Nintendo turned Zelda into a kiddy series" thing at work, so if anyone wants me I'll be driving some spikes into a nice solid wooden bat.

  2. I think it's gotten alot better since the early movies. I've warmed up to it now.

  3. I've loved the new look since the get-go. Every single time I see it, I get more and more excited to see how it'll be used to enhance the gaming experience.

  4. i've been over it, unlike some people i know.

    "That's fucking gay."
    "Yeah, that is gay."
"OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING TO BUY THAT ZELDA GAME!"

  5. I never had a problem with it. How could I question Myamoto's choice of how the game would look? I can't wait to get my copy of the game. I have a strong feeling that this game will be the game of the year for 2003!

  6. Yes, but I had to see it in person and play a little before I got over the new look.

  7. People say the new look is kiddy or dumb, I punch them in the eyebrow.

Seriously, it looks sweet. Now, I'll be the first to admit that a realistic approach would've been a shoe-in for bringing back some of the 'mature' audience. But the new Zelda look is done with such quality, finesse and detail that it accents the game, rather than being a gimmicky move.

For the record, I don't want Zelda to stay Cell shaded, as I did love the visuals in OoT. But they're keeping it fresh, which I respect immensely in an era in which sequels are all too common without change and more for name.

  8. Hmm, never had a problem with it. Though the first time I saw pictures of it, I thought it was Parappa 3. I'm really eager to see this game in motion.

  10. I think it took me a few hours after first hearing the news to get over it. But after you've seen all the movies and screenshots and played the demo, I think it's near impossible not to be awed by the animation. And the gameplay of course is fantastic since it follows in the footsteps of Oot. The only problem I have (and I don't know if this is true) is the lack of Ganon, I really thought Majora's Mask was great, but I missed the classic battle with him.
