Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
piku: I've noticed, but as Nick pointed out earlier, much of those accounts are not even genuine; thus it's pretty difficult to celebrate the statistical data. Half of the accounts end up getting removed because existing members (usually n00bs) think it's "cool" to register 15 million accounts for their multiple personality disorders/borderom/entertainment. It happens way too frequently and is somewhat annoying.
Take for example, Magma Dragoon has accounts as Shikyoh and ShinShikyoh (wtf?) It's one thing if you can't remember your password...contact us, we will create a generic one for your original account and then you can personally change it. Making more accounts. I am hoping we won't have to start banning free email accounts from registration - (which is one of many loopholes people use to register addt'l accounts)
Unfortunately, it's also the quickest way to get all of your accounts disabled or banned from use.
The remaining 40% are people which chose to sign up, comment here and there but for one reason or another stopped posting. I don't blame that on the community atmoshpere because overall it's very positive. We've got a nice niche of people here who contribute A LOT to the boards and I am glad to see them on a weekly basis. There's too many to count, but you know who you are! Granted, the place isn't always the friendliest at first (especially with all those "Hi, I am new!" threads which I must admit are reaching their tolerance limit from yours truly), but we've definitely got the highest caliber of gaming knowledge and passion which compared to other boards on the net...![]()
Send every registered account an email saying something like "your account will be deleted in ten days if you do not respond."
Easy way to clean things up.
That's like fighting a cold with Clorox. A terrible solution for a minor headache.Originally posted by bahn

I'd put that number closer to 80 or 90%. Most idle accounts are probably lurkers or people who've found better things to do with their time. The remaining 40% are people which chose to sign up, comment here and there but for one reason or another stopped posting.
But I agree with most of the rest of what you've said.

Maybe we can set up a script that tosses accounts after X days of inactivity.
