Old for New - Will you trade in your GBA for the SP Edition?
Dropped by Gamestop the other day (to pre-order my personal copy of Zelda: The Wind Waker - YAY). Anyways, the sales rep told me that they're actually beginning to take customer pre-orders for the upcoming SP edition. The thing is...you can't do it as you normally would with software. You'll have to trade in your existing Game Boy Advance to get the GBA SP, which brings the price from $100 to $60.
I thought about and figured, "Shoot, why not?" After all, the system lacks any internal lighting (unless you mod it with the Afterburner) or get one of those light accessories. I see it as a pretty fair deal. (GBA was about the same price when it first came out, and now retails for approx. 70 bucks or so.) I will make the plunge a few weeks before the system officially ships. This way I can get some gaming out of the way and won't feel too lonely without it.
I'm not fond of the GBA SP's design. I think it looks kind of ugly and it doesn't help that you have to purchase the headphone jack seperately, talk about a rip off.
I think the current GBA design looks cool. I'm going to get the Afterburner installed in my Artic GBA and be happy with that.
I was supposed to get a free GBA from Nintendo (don't recall if I told you the story while we were chilling at Vegas last year).
GameFreak: Hey. the cobalt design is pretty hot, that's the one I am jonesing for! Drop me a PM on that Afterburner link dealing...just for my edification.
I think I'll do it, the used GBA I've been using since I sent my own in to be Afterburner-ed has taken some abuse from the previous owner, and is none-too pretty. It'd be worth trading it in for $40 toward the SP.
This is assuming I don't import, though, because the Japanese black SP that won't be available here is looking mighty sexy
Oh shite.Rags, you're right...I forgot about the import models, only I prolly wouldn't get the same trade-in value. Hm, maybe I can take a trip to NY before the domestic one gets here
bahn, you'll get the same value whether its a import or japanese. i traded my jap fuschia and put it towards the gba sp at my old eb. no problems at all.
im keeping my platinum gba w/ab.
the price of afterburner installations are cheaper now due to the $10 price drop on the afterburner.
