Cradle to the Grave - Official thread...

A bunch of us here I know are looking forward to this new Jet-Li action Film. Feb 28th wlll be here sooner then we think. Seen some previews on TV last night and the action looks incredible.

What do you guys think of DMX? I think he's a pretty good rapper even though I don't listen to much of his music. I enjoy him as an actor though and think he will do a fine job in this one.

It's rated R too so we don't have to worry about things being watered down.

I like how Jet Li does a PG-13 Movie and then a R rated one as he caters to both adults and youngsters. That is how he explained it in a interview.

  2. Well, I've been anticipating this film since I heard about it for the first time. I mean match between Jet Li and Mark Dacasscos is like a dream come true. I'm huge fan of both, so I'll be seeing the film, for that alone.

I dont understand why most people hate Jet's Hollywood films. I personally will take Kiss of the Dragon or The One, over some of his HK movies. Granted I'm not a big fan of wire-fu, so many of Jets Period Highflying films like Fong-Sai-Yuk or Swordsman 2, that usually get rave comments from fans, dont do anything for me. I'm more for hard hitting and deadly Jet, seen in KOD, Bodyguard from Beijing and High Risk.

Mark Dacasscos is one of my favorite actors. I love him in Crying Freeman, Drive and Brotherhood of the Wolf, where he showed off his martial arts and acting skills. Good to see Mark come back to the Big Screens, and I hope that he will get even more Big roles after C2TG.

I also dont mine DMX. He is ok rapper, and he did pretty good in Exit Wounds, at least in action sequences.

I'm glad that its rated R, so that can allow harder hitting action scenes, than PG13 would.

  3. Bah, I'm pissed. Mark Dacasscos didn't even get his name mentioned in the commercial. It just went, "Jet Li...DMX...Cradle 2 The Grave!". Boo!

I still haven't seen Brotherhood of the Wolf. I have to rent that. And he was good in Only The Strong, too.

But what if it's rated R for gay sex scenes instead?

  4. Why not call it, "Cradle to the Grave" I hate it when they replace For with 4, or To with 2 in movie titles. Its lame. But since its got DMX in it they must have to make it "urban". The movie looks pretty neat I can say though. I liked Romeo Must Die to an extent, Kiss of the Dragon was so-so, and the One was pretty lame. So I don't know what to think. I'll rent it.

Well, At least Jets name came before DMX

As for Mark not being mentioned in trailer, its because its not very well known, and they want to focus on Big Names to attract the viewers. But fans will know who he is

You need to watch Brotherhood. I thought it was a great film, and Mark was very cool in it. I also liked Only the Strong. That and Double Dragon, were his only theatrical movies in US, before Brotherhood of the Wolf, brought him back.

  6. Who is he is BotW? I love that movie by the way. My friend told me it sucked, and then I took it home one day from the store and loved it. Such a cool story, and such a cool "Werewolf". I need to watch it again, I forget the indians name but when he was all painted up in the caves it made me think of Turok. I am guessing he is the main character in BotW? Whose name I can't think of.

  7. Mark Dacasscos played Mani, the indian. He had some great scenes too.

  8. The only thing that interests me is Jet and Mark, but I hope they have longer fight scenes then Romeo Must Die. I wish I could say the movie looks interesting overall, but judging from the trailer (which really doesn't mean a damn thing) this looks to be Li's worst American movie. I sure hope it's actually good.

  9. Well, I'm sure its going to be better than Romeo Must Die. Dacasscos is a better villian than Russel Wong

I also hope that it will have many fights, and I think it does. There is one big fight with Jet taking on group of UFC fighters, so that looks interesting.

Final fight between Jet and Mark in the rain, looks too damn cool.

  10. ...

Well I've only become a major fan of Jet Li in the past few years --beyond his outstanding OUATIC, his HK films were good, but I felt they didn't best utilize his martial arts--which is a very brutal and realistic style...so his more recent stuff like Hitman and then his hollywood film KOD were really good in my opinion and I am glad he is doing Hollywood films now...and I think his acting is getting better as well...I am looking forward to this one (and of course his Hero film too!)
