Thread: Official Nokia N-Gage Thread

  1. Nokia N-Gage price revealed

Check out the report by our tenacious man in the UK, Ravi Hiranand:

    http://www.gamers.com/news/1311748/

The price of the N-Gage = "Under 500 Euros"
...which sounds like.. about $500! Yikes!
Unless this gets heavily rebated by phone providers...I dunno if I'll lay down the cash...

  2. SWEET JEEBUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thats about $540 Im sorry but 540 is not COMPETITIVELY priced with the GBA which can be had for 70 for the original model or 100 for the new model

thats more than 5Xs the price

yeah this is competition for the GBA

  3. Hahaha, that's hilarious. Seriously though, Nokia's fucked. Royally. Hopefully that'll come down by a whole hell of a lot for the U.S. market.

  4. If that turns out to be the final price in america, they're fucked. You can buy two 2 PS2s, 2 Xboxes, or 3 gamecubes with that money.

    Or one of each

  6. If they truly felt competent about their product, they would price it competitively. Right now, it's just an over-priced cell phone that won't even run on one of the largest providers in the US (Sprint -- Nokia started making their own chips, which were slightly incompatable with Sprint's network, so they got dumped from the product line). Pricing it at $500, even though it does have PDA and gaming functionality, is ludicrous if they want to compete with the GBA. Right now, they're simply competing with the $500 Handspring Treo and the ~$600 Pocket PC phones, among other similarly-priced models.

This will not take the market by storm, unless it hits $200 fairly soon.

  7. Remember folks, that is NOT the official U.S. price right now.

  8. wow, that review makes all the games sound shitty. heh heh.

    and pricey to boot.

  9. I have no want/need for a cellphone....nor a PDA, so the N-Gage is batting 1 for 3 in terms of nailing me in their "demographic". 500 dollars for a handheld? Fuck that, Ill go get me a TurboExpress sealed in the box with a TV tuner instead. At least that has proven titles.

EDIT: Also, am I the only one not keen on signing a fucking contract to get a handheld at a competitive price?
