Thread: Miyamato wants new Zelda

  1. It seems to me that video games are headed straight to Hollywood hell. If you just buy anything that Nintendo slaps Zelda on, you're not checking them. People need to be a little more selective in what they play. On a side note, I'll say that Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft probably aren't going to take too many chances on 1st party games because of what happened to Sega. Sega was all about new fresh ideas that sold exactly nothing. While I would like to see more innovation, it's unlikely seeing how too many people (including many that frequent this board) will just buy anything the game companies put out. Oh and Animal Crossing wasn't very good at all. (A game that play by itself?)

  2. i agree, i'd much rather see original content rather than sequels, regardless of what position nintendo is in..

nintendo, if the games are good enough, they'll sell.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  3. You know, what has been said so far about the new Mario game makes it out to be very different than M64 and Sunshine. As for Pikmin, I haven't played the first one yet so I don't know what could be changed. Zelda could go any ways right now, so who knows. In any case, we'll hopefully get a unique Mario game sometime soon.

I don't think that's the case; surprisingly moreso with Sony and Microsoft than even Nintendo imo. Sony has already put out some really wonderful new games, like Ico, Mark of Kri, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, Frequency, etc, and Microsoft with games on the horizon like Psychonauts, Brute Force, Sudeki, True Fantasy Live, Tork, etc. Though of course, Sony and MS are pretty much forced to do so, without the long running franchises like Nintendo, but regardless, they're still putting out the goods, imo.
Buy Yakuza and Oblivion. Help yourself, help TNL.

  5. I didn't mean to imply that they aren't putting out good 1st party games, just not overly innovative ones. Something like Seaman (which sucked) or Jet Set Radio is kind of what I mean by innovative. There are more, but they escape me right now. I'll give props to Mark of Kri, that game was pretty cool.

  6. Isn't possible that while working on WW they were also working on this "new" Zelda? This is just a guess becuase he did say '"later this year". And I wouldn't mind a new zelda game after WW as long as it is better then MM.

  7. I don't know. I'm kind of torn on the matter. Two Zeldas in one year does seem like a bit of overkill, and I can only imagine that if WW turns out to be another OoT then this new Zelda will be another MM.

On the other hand, it's Zelda, so how can I really complain?
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

Well, when you put it that way...

    Majora's Mask still owns.

If games are headed to Hollywood hell, it isn't Nintendo's fault even if they release twenty Zelda titles this year. And I don't understand the Animal Crossing hate.

Can't disagree with what you said about Sony - they've been a lot better than Sega recently - but what quality tiles have MS released in...I dunno...ever?

  10. Majora's Mask is a pretty good game when viewed as a standalone product, without being compared to OoT, but that's almost impossible to do. It just comes down to the fact that OoT was tough to follow. I don't think any Zelda game could have fared very well against it.

Someone here (I forget who) once said that MM felt like a OoT user mod; basically the same game as OoT, just devoid of all the heart and soul. I think that sums things up pretty well.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
