Thread: Miyamato wants new Zelda

Sega had a relatively poor year in 2002 but their excellent Dreamcast games in 2000/2001 count as part of this era.

It's not like Nintendo had a great year for releases either. Metroid Prime is the only game released by Nintendo in 2002 that really impressed me.

I love Shinobi. PSO II's release has caused a few waves. ORTA was well received. Beach Spikers was a better game than DoAXVB (okay, I've never played XVB, just going by what I've read). F-Zero looks staggering. This year's crop of sports titles was their best yet.

I'd hardly say they've been dead.

  3. If another Zelda gets released this year, I might just overload. I just bought LttP for GBA since I'm going on a cartrip tomorrow, and I'll be playing through Master Quest and OoT in about a week, followed later on by Wind Waker. That's a lot of Zelda, but I won't be complaining, I love the stuff.
Perhaps, but someone else (i.e. me) retorted that MM is the superior game because of the innovative and interesting Groundhog Day-system, while OoT is nothing more than the very impressive LttP with polygons.
Why mess with perfection? As for innovation meaning a superior game, many don't seem to feel that way about Stretch Panic.

Majora, both Oracles... that makes three. What am I missing? (Actually, I don't know the release date of Link's Awakening, was that before or after OoT?)

Couldn't be. I'm still entranced by OoT even to this day, but MM had me bored within a couple hours. Not sure exactly why (there doesn't seem to be any technical or blatent reason), but it's inferior somehow.

Agreed. Majora's Mask was missing something. Perhaps fun.

  5. Mech, I hear what you're saying about MM being boring as shit. OoT had a captivating story and moments that you just had to experience. Plus, it was a fun game to play through. Majora's Mask had some fucking idiotic characters that I wanted to smack upside the head and the most boring story ever. Sure the gameplay was like OoT, but if there isn't a story I can latch onto, I'm not going to bother going through it. At least not when I can just swap that cart out, put my OoT one in, and have some actual fun.

  6. Boring characters?

They were the same freaking characters. Right down to the polygons.

  7. I didn't mean the character models, I meant the actual characters. You know, the people with names and such.

Which explains disasters like Majora's Mask and Mario Sunshine. Nintendo is throwing away what made them big in the first place: originality.

  9. How dare you not find a waterpack original. It added limitless posiblities to the gameplay. Of course, very few of those possibilities were actually USED, but that's neither here nor there.

Neo, Prime isn't the only Nintendo game released this year. Animal Crossing was also released by Nintendo.

    Word.

I don't have a problem with my Zelda games...as long as the quality is atleast as goot as Oot/LttP or better.
