Thread: Do you believe in god?

  1. Atheist, though I believe heavily in many of the philosophies of various religions.
    God is Rome

  2. Atheist. I think Dolemite said it better than I could have.

  3. Sometimes, when I'm hear someone spouting biblical stuff, I get this knot in my stomach. I'm all, there's a greater being. It is God Almighty. I am a Protestant. I should beg for forgiveness. I should read the bible. If I see a Catholic, I should kick him and make fun of his priests "dress."

Then, when I sit down an analyze it, it doesn't make sense. Almost every religion says that their religion is the true relgion and every other one is stupid. How does this work? They all must have come from somewhere. Though it would make sense to, you simply can't believe in all; you'd be a hypocrite.

Religion confuses me. But I do believe in a power. And, for the sake of conveience, I refer to him as God.

    Agnostic.

    I like "red eggs" better.

And who came up with "douchenuts?!" What the heck kind of insult is that?!

  6. Whatever gets you by, just so long as you don't unwantingly subject others to your beleifs and definetely so long as you don't hurt anyone. For instance, I don't beleive in god, but my grandmother does. I love my grandma though, and she ain't hurting no one. It doesn't matter to me because she is a good person and will take her beleifs with her when she dies, and if it helps her out then thats allright by me. I was brought up a Christian (babtist), and for a long time I believed in god. However, it got to the point where I couldn't do anything or think straight because I was so worried about what the man upstairs would think since he knows everything. I think there is two types of religion- the type that is ingrained into a culture, and the type that has lost its real meaning and is used by those in power. Most of what I got out of my time as a Christian was just fear and self-loathing, and that isn't what keeps a person going. I trust myself on spiritual matters, but I respect religion for those whom it means the real thing to.

    This is an excellent post.

And I'd like to apologise to Cyco and Cynical. My definitions were off. I've since remidied that, though, so no more misquoting for me.

  8. Xeno's views on life and the universe(s)....

    1. Anything is possible

    2. There probably is some kind of "power" overseeing things to a degree. Most likely a "power" that we will never know of (in any detail) in life or death.

    3. I would guess this "power" doesn't give a rats ass what we think of it or say in it's name.

    4. There could very well be other or parallel universes and or dimensions.

    5. It's a tragic waste of space if we're the only intelligent life in the universe.

    6. The Earth should see an end one day, but we'll probably already be colonizing space.

    7. Be good to yourself and others and things should turn out great for you.

    8. Stop worrying about what we can't possibly know for a solid fact and enjoy life, you don't get forever here.

    9. Burrito's are the fruit of the gods
