  1. Does anyone know if SOL restart only gives you SOL scenes as far as you got when you restarted or do they go past that point?

Bingo, that's the creature. I had one partially pumped up and the other completely pumped up and got 3000+ XP.
And Mech! You've probably figured it out by now, but you temp save by selecting Quit from the start menu.
Yeah, I figured that out a while ago. Thanks anyway.

When you restart once you get any and all SOL scenes that are programmed to come after a restart (no matter how far in you were). However, triggering certain scenes in-game will in turn cause extra SOL scenes to occur. For instance, there's a scene in the labs with Nina a few levels in and if you restart after that point you'll get extra SOL scenes earlier on.

I'd imagine you get even more after you Clear, rather interested to see just how much there is.

  3. Soon after bitching here about not taking enough of a beating I turned on the game, walked into the next room in the dungeon, and got gangraped by 7 giant monsters. Zero healing items. They killed Lin and Nina on the first turn. Knocked Ryu down to 20 hp. Had to UNLEASH THE DRAGON!@#. My D-counter is now at 50%. And I didn't get any healing items from the battle.

    Shit.

  4. =_= Wednesday+Thursday+Friday= 28 hours, 45 minutes of climbing. I was nearly to the end, I think, when later bosses were beating the hell out of me. I was at %92 (no spoiler, just a bunch of boss fights with lots of shield), so there was no way I was risking a dragon transform. So... I took a deep breath, wept a little, and used the restart option. It was getting really interesting too. The new cinemas are neat, though. It just feels bad being near the bottom again.

I tried explaining the D-Gauge to a friend of mine, who immediately dismissed it as the stupidest thing EVAR. *sigh* It really adds a new level to the game, but he's not believing it.

Even if it is just a really pretty dungeon crawler (the best one EVAR, at that), it's a dad-gummed good dungeon crawler. Even if the scenery is repetitive, it hasn't gotten boring yet, due to some strange power that Capcom seemed to have been using in the creation of this game.

(hmm... reviews have been quoting a 10-hour playthrough. I struggled to get to what I thought was the top in about 25 hours(not counting early restarts, but counting lots of fairy/ant visits). Am I just stupid or are the reviews I've read dirty lies?)
    Donk

  5. I'm very quickly acquiring a strong taste for this game. I picked up DC2 as well, avoided .hack based on comments and the demo, and it's getting more playtime and giving more enjoyment.

The whole design means that it actually requires some modicum of skill and thought to progress, compared with most jrpgs, which are of the entertain you first, challenge you never variety.

  6. Finch, one question: Worrents...Yes/No?

And if you're ever bored or anything, I'd be reaallly happy if you could just fill me in on the story (via PM) since I won't have the gumption to do the whole "gotta play the game mutliple times to get the whole story" thing.

You know, so I won't be lost when a traditional BoF rolls around.

  7. You would think Ryu or just someone who lives underground would carry a flashlight of some sort ... some of the screens are so dark you don't see the enemy until thier right in front of you

  8. How would you rate this out of ten?

  9. I'd give it an 8 out of 10, good points are the story and graphics, nice battle system and excellent musical score

Bad points are the camera which makes it hard to see character in tight spots and some dark areas as well as limited characters selection and dragon system, plus you ether hate or like the SOL system... I just hate having to restart if I get far, if I'm not that far it isn't too bad and keeping most of your stuff helps

  10. Well, I just thumped the boss in the storage area, though I had to pull out the dragon to do so. I'm sitting at around 55% now, I think.

Still I've got around thirteen thousand party xp saved up. I'll be a happy camper when I finally do have to restart.
