We've come a long way since the days of competing within the arcade habitat, the legendary SF2 newsgroup, and one of the biggest epicenters for fighting game discussions - Shoryuken.com...
Continuing its aim as the purveyor of Capcom fighting events and related topics of past, present (and future), the founders of Shoryuken.com have launched an all-new sister website aptly named ShoryukenLive, developed exclusively to serve as a hub for the imminent wave of online fighting games.
It's official launch also arrives concurrently with the Xbox release of Capcom's current crossover blockbuster Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO. In addition to this title being the first official online fighting game for gamers on the North American coast, preliminary reports from various sources suggest the game will also offer numerous changes and/or "enhancements" to the original arcade title also available for PS2, Gamecube, and Dreamcast.
Naturally, it will be some time before the site begins bustling with content, however visitors can check out the newly launched matchmaking and general online disucssion boards. In addition, there's an impressive trailer of last year's national Street Fighter championships - Evolution 2002.
Anyone who's currently purchasing (or running to get <i>Capcom vs. SNK 2</i> as we speak) should give the site a quick browse (and register if you're not already a member). Keep a close eye on this one as soon you'll be able to play against a bevy of competition of all skill levels. And when you find your abilities challenged and are looking for some aid to improve, you won't have to go to far to tune your competitive edge...
If only I could afford Xbox live...then maybe I' get to play against someone else in MvC2...I'll take anyone over those d!@# Mag/Psy/Storm or Cable/Sent/raqndom top tier players...
