Thread: Gamespot reviews Capcom vs. SNK 2: EO (score 8.7)

  1. I am tired of the disco shit. I want the training stage songs to play on all the other stages, too. They're the coolest. And yeah, there's a Blanka song.

Yeah, that's where I heard it, along with the Final Fight remix. Actually, the guy I was playing against pointed it out to me which was both cool and kinda odd. I recall hearing some other familiar tunes, but I was too caught up in trying to save my ass to be able to really discern what they were.

The directional pad is a bit stiff, but it gets the job done. In short, the Xbox controller probably won't get in the way of your ability to excel at Capcom vs. SNK 2."

    -Is this guy on drugs?
No. I spent about 4 hours on this game yesterday, and the stock controller kicks the S-Controller's ass, if only because the buttons are all useable. The stock's black & white buttons aren't so bad once you get used to them, and I didn't find the S d-pad any more accurate in the long run than the stock controller's.

The only shitty part is that for some insane reason you can't map ppp to one of the triggers, so ground evasions are nearly impossible to pull off.

  4. Um, current Capcom sprites don't cut it plainly because they're so pixelated. Either bring the overall resolution back down to SF3/SFA3 standards, or rework all the characters to 'fit' high resolution. While you're at it, Capcom, redraw the older guys. I used to defend their 'laziness' because, honestly, the amount of new sprites in CvS and then the amount increased in CvS2 were enough for a new fighting game altogether. How do you go back and redo Alpha sprites when already working on 12+ 'new' characters? However, they've had enough time riding CvS2 to make some improvements if they wanted, but...

No I haven't played much I'll admit and yes there are a good amount of characters, but I would like to see some other Capcom characters... like Jon Talbain for instance *dodges flying cans* well I would

There's a ton of characters I'd love to see included - heck, that could be its own thread. But they've gotta leave some guys to add for the sequels, right? Talbain wouldn't be out of place with Morrigan already in the game.

    Personally I want to see:

    Daimon Goro
    Ukiyo Tachibana
    Fei Long
    Sodom
    Yashiro
    Heidern
    K'
    Takuma
    Kasumi

....and I'll just stop there. Although frankly, I'd rather they work on the game engine than characters...

They're pixelated because Capcom is poo-poo. Plain and simple. After I experienced GGX on the Dreamcast and PS2, the conclusion that their developers are simply too darn lazy or stupid to develop a true-high res game. Telling us that it can't be done is NOT an excuse. Why is it that Arc Systems has been able to demonstrate the integrity of high-rest 2D fighting TWICE and yet the ever-legendary Street Fighter franchise leaves its fans with pixel trash! RAM isn't an issue...they just don't care. I used to try defending them too. AGES ago in my reviews, and then over time, reality showed it's true colors and as much as I still make it my aim to play (and enjoy) their games, it's inexecusable.

StriderKyo: I sat down and played with both pads (heh, very few ppl actually acknowledge the standard pad by it's industry name)

I'd have to say that the stock pad was actually better, but adjusting to the D-pad will take some work... I'd love to have the stock pad's button layout with the S controller D-pad. OMGIAMSOSMARTZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    /me begins developing a design

I am searching diligently for an adequate converter so that I can use my ASCII. The X-Arcade sucks BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. I don't know why the new adapters aren't compatible (I believe it's because they're designed for a specific unit which route power or something...my technical knowledge sux0r). MAS is really the way to go, but apparently they don't specialize in adapters.

Oh, and I rather they create a friggin high-res fighter and stop recycling these pixelated crap.

  8. How to stop playing EO players: Never join a "console" game, only arcade.

  10. Soooo tempting right now to buy this.

In regards to buttons: It's not pretty but I've gotten used to shoulders as the hards after so many years of putting up with that bull. I don't care if the button layout is better but I refuse to use the standard XBox d-pad. That thing just doesn't love my fingers very well.

Damn BoFV, or else I'd have this. I decided to put it off as any network problems that exist should hopefully be fixed when I get to buying this.
