Thread: Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (Lets just call this official)

  1. Well Final Fantasy Tactics had one of the best stories overall in my opinion. And this game's gameplay is also lower in my eyes. Right now, I think this game is mediocre, I hope that changes, because It hardly has my interest right now.

  2. I think the story is flat-out retarded.

...but, after about 10 hours, I was totally hooked on the play mechanics and character building inherent with these types of games. Story-related battles come up very infrequently, so they don't bother me too much.

I agree that the PSX version is superior, but for what it is, FFTA is probably my favorite GBA game. Despite being "less stellar," I do think there are some improvements made in the engine in FFTA...a new Tactics game on a current-gen system would blow my mind...it's a shame these don't sell well enough to get the full "Final Fantasy" treatment.

Well since the Fire Emblem series is all about political stife, betrayal, incest, sacrificing kiddies, I would say the Nintendo backed is not the culprit.

FFtactic's plot confused a lot of people, and the system the current incarnation is mainly owned by children. Getting rid of the political strife, seemed like a nobrainer.

  5. Hrm... Someone want to post a comparison of the Tactics and Tactics Advance engines? I would but I am only 6 hours in right now, so it will be a little while before I can. But if no one else wants to I will after 15 hours? Maybe 10, whenever I feel comfortable.

    Engines?

    You mean the battle/job systems?

  7. Broooing!

    Just hit forty hours.

I've now got my dual swords ability in effect. I've got a couple of sword breakers which give you the "steal-sword" ability. (sweet!).

I almost have my first juggler, and my summoner and Nu Mou Elementalist/Black Mage is rocking the house.

And the assasin...oh how do I love you. Basically take all the of the archers aim abilities, and instead of having them disable/immobolize/blind your target, how about a 50%-70% chance of killing (well, K.O.'ing) your enemy in one attack (including a sweet Odin like 'slice' animation).

    Awesome.

I thought FFT's religious implications were the most controversial elements of its story. And we have yet to see a domestic Fire Emblem.

Heh, I like that too, especially since I see it so often after learning Concentration. My fav though is the Reaper animation after a doomed unit bites it.

    "Ha Ha Hwor Hwa Wrahbnmgh..."

  10. How did you guys beat the third Totema? I'm still having problems.
You know, the dragon looking dude who summons three dragons. My Beastmaster can't seem to get ahold of any of the dragons, and they mop the floor with me.

I agree with your statement about relegion, burg. I enjoyed every second of FFTs plot line.
