Thread: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker

  1. The only time I ever had a problem with the camera was in the metal gear solid area, when you have to use the barrel to get past the gaurds. If you stop by a wall when in the barrel, the camera zooms so close into you, you can't see anything around you. Other than that, it seems fine, since I never keep it on automatic, whenever I go anywhere I'm always moving the camera around.

I never said the game was bad, I just said you're playing too much of it if one of my posts caused you to question your existence.

Xenosaga is damned good, actually. But I'll probably start Wind Waker this weekend anyway.

kind of, it seems to be an archetype type thing, there will always be a hero, a villian, and a princess. the princess zelda thing was mentioned in zelda 2, that the original zelda was kind of a sleeping beauty, type story and all the princeses that followed were named zelda after the first. but also since they all were matched with the three triforces, gannon with power, link with courage, and zelda with wisdom(from oot's end). so the triforce seems to motivate the continued melodrama
They way I understand it, Gannon is a constant. He is timeless. The Gannon in The Legend of Zelda is the same in OoT, and A Link to the Past, etc.

Link and Zelda, however, are born anew every generation.

  4. This game rocks. I just beat the Dragon Roost. woot.

  5. Yeah Dragon Roost was so amazing... right now I'm going to put all the pearls in their statues or whatever... good times...

  6. Picked it up earlier today and tooled arround for 2hrs or so. I am impressed at the quality of this title and pleasently surprised at the expressions the characters are capable of. I'm also pleased to see the game go from mature to comic and back to mature without it feeling forced.

    "What's with the get up?"

No, I dont. In fact, you could say I hate it. Maybe Im just less tolerant of 3D cameras than I was two or three years ago, but the camera is awful.

Andrew, yes, like I said, my complaints are not enough to damper the overall experience a great deal. If someone came up to me on the street and said "hey what do you think of wind waker" I would say "great game, def get it if you have a cube"... HOWEVER, the control seriously needs work if you ask me (I dont understand how people call this scheme brilliant), and the entire game has this feeling of "sameness"... like I said, my friend and I got through chunks of the game not by thinking of things logically or what not, but thinking of them like "what you did in old Zelda"... setting the wood sticks on fire, shooting the eye with my bow, so forth...

Sure... its cool that you have that chime when you solve a puzzle, or that chime when you get a treasure, all that... but Ive already played 70% of this game in past Zeldas (if it wasn't for the leaf, it would be 90%).

This is not a good thing if you ask me. I mean, it was cool years ago, but when I can pretty much sleepwalk through the puzzles, beating them just on the virtue of my familiarity with old Zeldas... it might be time for an overhaul, Miyamato.

  8. The fire dungeon boss is the biggest boss in videogame history, right?
Been a while, but I think the final boss in Slave Zero dwarfs it.

Wasn't the Deku Leaf in Majora's Mask?

Shame on you for playing Slave Zero that much.

Wasn't the Deku Leaf in Majora's Mask?
I dunno I didnt play it that much. But there you go. The rest of my post stands.

  10. The art of course is great but so far I'm not amazed with Zelda, after a hour of play last night I set it down and haven't picked it back up.

Don't murder me yet though, I'm sure like Oot it picks up beyond the first simple dungeon. *-neo
