Thread: Disney to go all cg in a couple years

  1. Disney to go all cg in a couple years

    Here they are-

That first one looks pretty cool, actually.
The "all cg" news took me by surprise. I wonder what effect it will have on the rest of the US animation industry, and I'm really interested in how it will affect Japanese animation.

  2. I assure you, these are NOT going to be the last of the traditionally-animated films. The industry's always moved in cycles, and this is just another one.

I'm puzzled by this news of CG only Disney, though, since they killed off their Secret Lab division... they don't have the personell to do only CG at the moment...

What I'd love to see is Pixar doing a full-on 2D picture... they have the artists... (and they're getting out of Mouse-land soon, rumor has it.)

  3. I cant stand CG. I think it looks terruble to the traditional art whether it be Disney or any othe animated film, show, etc.

  4. I don't mind CG, but seeing Disney go all-CG is a bit of bad news since there's no way they can realistically make the move, and have it look good in the process.

    Disney still makes movies?

  6. Oh, quick note: Cel Animation has actually been dead since around Little Mermaid. I believe that was the last one with actual hand-painted acatate cells. Every drawing has been run through a scanner since then, no matter what Disney's art-sales shops will try to tell you...

  7. Bad idea, but it shows how desperate Disney is at this point. They're trying tio appeal to todays audience with this all CG crap and they're failing miserably.

I didn't know that. By cel animation, I meant non-cg

I dont quite get you there. Their CG movies are their biggest profit makers.
