Thread: The Foreigner - Steven Seagal latest

  1. The Foreigner - Steven Seagal latest

While browsing my Hollywood Video yesterday, I found a new addition on the shelf. New Steven Seagal's film: The Foreigner. While not as dreadful as his The Ticker, it still a bad movie. The plot is very incomprehensible, with Seagal playing CIA agent in Europe, that has a mission to deliver a SPECIAL PACKAGE, and some mysterious men are trying to kill him for that. That pretty much all I could understand of the plot, which had double cross after double cross after double cross. It also involves CIA trying to hide some devious actions, wealthy Industrialist hiding the conspiracy involment, and fighting his wife by hiring some killers and dealing with evil CIA, and industrialist wife, who may or may not hiring some killers to kill her hubby. Oh yeah, it also has this weird French killer, who keeps showing up again and again, and kills everyone he meets. And Seagal character, Mr. Cold keeps shooting the guy, but he is very persistent.

Action scenes were pretty un-exciting, and Seagal only used little bit of his fighting skills, and relied mostly on gun action. He didnt look too fat though, but maybe it was because all the heavy coats and jackets he wore He even does a KICK and kicks the guy over the railing into the pond !!! Otherwise, its your usual action procedings. Director also relied on slo-mo too much. Part with French Killer Doubois running away from exploding building in slooooo-mo and screaming??? was very funny.

While not as bad as Van Damme European Adventure - Derailed, Foreigner is a whacked out, weird action movie. So give it a rent, if you are in the mood

  2. Seagal. My how the mighty have turned to shit.

    "Who are you?"
    "Steven Seagal!"
    "And what have you done...?"
    "A little film called...LEGIONAIRE!"
    "..."
*waves his arms around like he's going to strike* "I'm going to go make a sandwhich!"

I love that skit from SNL. Jackie Chan rules.

  3. I feel bad for all the early 90's action heroes that have fallen on hard times...

Yeah since all their Movies go direct to video. Saw a new Stallone Movie that went to video recently on the shelf maybe I'll rent it.

I'm liking Vin Diesel as the new up and coming action star.
He has a new film coming out which looks pretty good about a man out for Revenge.

  5. Vin Diesel's new film is A Man Apart. I saw the trailer, and it looked interesting.

I rented Eye see you, Stallone's direct to video film, like a month ago, and watch half before I had to return it to BlockBuster, and it was a decent thriller. Stallone was good in it, and the storyline was interesting.

  6. I dont know why you waste your time watching these shit movies Despair.

  7. Well, I dont really watch every direct to video film that hits the shelves, but if it has actors who I liked, or still do, for example above mentioned Van Damme or Seagal, I usualy give them a try, in hopes that they might turn out a better movie. Or to at least have some good time laughing how bad those are.

Hmm...I think the only Steven Seagal movie I ever liked was Exit Wounds, and I only liked that because it had Seagal doing a Shoryuken, and that classic scene where he had to take an anger management class. As near as I can tell, that scene is the apex of his acting career.

Van Damme...if you take out all the fun I had laughing at him, I've never liked any of his movies. He was big before the Hong Kong invasion, except I'd seen The Killer and Fong Sai Yuk and Jackie Chan, so every time I had to watch Jean-Claude I was thinking "who is this clown? He's like the Vanilla Ice of asian martial arts."

  9. what was funny was sanz as sammo hung, given how jackie and sammo used to work together a lot, but his line was stupid.
yuh. that was dissapointing. At least Jackie said something like "oh hey, Samo!" to acknowledge that they knew each other, but it was a waste. I like that movie where Samo plays Jackie's retard brother.

shameful. but he'll be back on top with Rocky 6.

  10. Well, Van Damme has some very decent action films, like Hard Target, Double Team or Knock Off. Those he made working with John Woo, and Tsui Hark, and they do stand out, from many much crappier films of his carrier.

I think Exit Wounds is my favorite Seagal film. I though it was very decent action film.
