Thread: New EGM scores

Considering they have to plow through like 4 or 5 games a month, I'd figure they'd skew towards things that make their job easier.

Still, anyone truly hardCORE appreciates a nice tough-ass game .

  2. I play just as many games as the next guy and prefer most of my games to be easy->normal. Not sure what the definition of 'hardcore' is tho...probably not me I guess.

Then again, who gives a fuck what EGM likes...
I think Tenchu 1 got similar scores(7's) Tenchu is all about atmosphere. Some people get it, some people don't. Guess EGM doesn't really dig ninjas!! We do though, and thats all that matters!!!! I can't wait for it!!

agreed. I think it will be a great game, but I am disappointed it the lack of "raymanese" speech in the game. That made the second one pretty trippy and memorable. Like you really was in another world!!

  4. Schelp, I too prefer my games on the easy-normal scale of difficulty. I have no problems playing through hard games, as long as the difficulty isn't their artificually, I'll have a blast with the game.

Ah, well that explains it. I guarantee that the reason the game was "too easy" for the 'tards at EGM was that they ignored the main purpose of the game- NOT BEING SEEN. The original Tenchu was pretty easy too if you just ran through the levels, and the bosses weren't too difficult, either. The whole point of the game is to slowly sneak through the levels without being seen and pulling off stealth kills. I played the demo, and the guards were pretty alert. It had a nice level of challenge, perhaps about the same as the original game. If the whole game is of the same quality of the demo, I'll be a happy boy.
Its all about getting " master ninja" on all the levels. You're right, forget running around and just beating the game. Tenchu is all about atmosphere and stealth!

  6. By the way, this year's EGM April fool's joke is one of the lamest ones yet.

According to the Splinter Cell demo, the game had an extremely choppy frame rate, and the Orta demo made the game seem extremely boring. In other words, you can't really base what a game will be like on a demo. You never know, the final product might actually deserves what it got.

With that said, I look foward to renting this one.

Well, according to the two examples you gave, the final products improved over the demo. The quality of the Tenchu 3 demo was very high, so the final version will probably be the same, if not better as well. I totally believe that T3 will be a great game.
