Thought you would say something like "Because of it's darker themes" or something.![]()
Am I the only one who liked Castlevania 3? C'mon it's got Alucard and a...umm...hunchback. Anyway Alucard was cool and I actually beat that mofo.

Fuck no! That ish was golden! It was hard as hell, long (ooh, that sounds bad) and had branching paths (better). Plus the atmosphere was the creepy as shit. Okay, so I'm basing the atmosphere commment on my 10 year old observations, but...Originally posted by soundwave

3 was the best one on nes, but I'll pick it up for sure.
As good as CV2 was I enjoyed CV3 more. It felt more like a Castlevania game. CV3 was all about dark green, orange, and red colors while CV2 was all about Purple.Originally posted by Briscobold

I enjoyed Castlevania 3 the most out of all the nes ones. I don't hate 2 or anything, but 3 throws it down and pisses in its mouth. The level design was top of the line, the music was exceptional, and the branching paths gave you incentive to play it again. I was even feeble enough back in my youth to expect a completely different ending if I beat it with different people.

I'd rather have had it done in 2.5D like a kickass combination of SOTN and Klonoa 2.
Oh well.![]()
IMO the original Castlevania games were formulaic and repetitive. They were good, but far from great, and suffered from many annoying flaws. The visuals and music were always top-notch, and as a result the games got tons of exposure.Originally posted by Green

The Metroidvania formula is much better but is getting really played out as of late. I'm anxious to see what Konami can do with the next generation of 3D machines.
