I never knew of that one, but I would have to say if I had been around at the time of that rumor, I would have left it with a broken heart. Tantalizing my desires can lead to a monstrous downfall of the last standing thread of my soul.

Seems a lot of these rumors I don't know, just my way of knowing what I never knew, and what had no point I guess.

Question: Is there a common source of these false rumors, that leads to a company losing all credibility? OR do you just pick them up randomly on the net?

Alot of rumors come from the very same section in a magazine, or they're just random shit some ass hat comes up with and somehow or other they spread. The NBA Jam and Mortal Kombat rumors came left and right, IIRC. The Shen Long thing and the SImon Belmont in TMNT were damn good because no one knew any better, and Photoshop probably didn't exist at the time. Was hilarious to see guys like Mike Doughty spending hours at the arcade trying to fight Shen Long.

Damn, it was beaten to the punch by a good three years, and it's not even out yet.

Regarding the PS3 power, it's all speculation and hype at this point. Not really a rumor, but it doesn't hold any more truth then one.

Uh... no, I didnt miss the point. "did it perform like it was promised to"? I dunno, thats subjective. I personally think it did. Technically, though, its not like a 2.5. Its not even close to that. Here's what you said.

IMHO its not much different from what MS has done in this day and age, claiming the Xbox uses a PIII and bassicaly a geforce 3 its really a celeron and more like a geforce 2.5

So, its not "more like a 2.5". Its more powerful than a 3. It doesnt take a lot of math knowledge to know that 3 > 2.5.
