Thread: My supergun

  1. Please Matt, Post in this thread!

  2. Hey, does anybody know where to get a good floppy disk storage box? All of the stores around here sell either tiny ones or none at all. I have to rip off this idea. It's just too cool of a case. Since I already have a Supergun, I want to make a portable Neo Geo MVS. Any chance one of the small MVS boards could fit in a box like that?

If you make one stick a PS1 monitor on it (RGB on the go)

P.S. If you put a monitor on it you are officially the coolest person ever.

    P.S. I want pictures.

  4. That's awesome Click. Matt's a freakin' genius at this stuff and it's no surprise to me that he made a top quality set for you.

    /me hugs his Matt-modded Genesis.

  5. click, i'm in more envy of you than you can imagine..

you need to let us know how much this cost you.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

Try Staples or Office Max. If all else fails you can get them at a computer show. Personally, I don't like that design, or at least he could have burned the holes in with a hot knife instead of cutting it with a saw or whatever crude tool he used.

Like the Neo Geo LT? That one's box was custom made and I don't think they make diskette boxes as big as an MVS board. Try looking in home depot or an art supply store for plastic tackle boxes. You can even search plastic enclosures, but that will cost you more.

I wanted to make the world's smallest SuperGun. I have all the parts for it but I have other fish to fry right now. Basically a very small plastic enclosure from Radio Shack attached to a power supply outfitted with Playstation AV port, 7.5V DC out, and Neo Geo joystick inputs. It was going to be attached to a PSOne LCD monitor. Maybe I'll make it one day. If I get Salamander 2 then I definitely will.

I'm afraid the MV-1C would never fit... Definitely not with a game in it.

Get to work! I want to see this happen.

I love people and their sick technical skills.

    johnk_ - Let's say... about a PS2 or so.

Went and bought a PS1 monitor today. Official Sony. I don't know if I should crack it open and yoink the screen, or just work the whole assembly in there somehow. It feels like such a shame to kill the monitor 'cause it's so damn cool with the PS1.... I guess I have to find a broken PS so I can have a female end to the A\V connector. I've already got the MVS board, the Happ ultimate stick, and about 12 Happ buttons. Just need a case, power supply, and JAMMA harness.

Anyway, I want the monitor and stick right there on the case.

Don't break it open, you will damage the case. Also, you don't need to search for an old PS1 to rip out the Female AV port, just buy the Guncon AV port extender at any GameStop.

I wouldn't put a joystick and the monitor in the same place, and I'd probably adapt some joystick interface like Neo Geo or a custom one.
    Good luck with it.

BTW, Chibi, the way to send composite sync to the PSone LCD is to connect it to the S-Video Y pin on the AV which is pin 5, I believe.

  10. History of my supergun:
Mk.1 MAS supergun + apple RGB monitor
    Mk.2 MAS supergun + XRGB-1
    Mk.3 homebrew supergun + Commodore 1942

I gotta say the 1942 looks great, and the best bit is its hooked to a switch box and I can use my Gamecube + (soon to have) VGA cable and have it switch flawlessly between interlaced and progressive scan games! much less flicker than playing it on my 19" trinitron <- XRGB and the small screen makes everything look really sharp. However multiplayer games kinda suck, but soon i'll have a multiscan monitor that supports interlaced natively....
