PS2 mod chips

which one did you use? best, worst? etc.

personally, I'd be happier with just getting some external mod chip instead of sending out my system to be worked on.

I got the Messiah. It seems to work fine for the most part. The only downsides: No multi-region DVD playback, no support for anti-modchip PSOne imports, and there doesn't seem to be a way to apply the enhancements to PSOne games (because you have to press reset to load a game). But every PS2 import I've got plays without issue. (I've got a PAL PS2, and all my games bar one are either Japanese or American.)

The general consensus seems to be that the Messiah 2 is the one to go for. Although I'm unsure of what imporvements it offers.

That's the way I went. Just bought the PS2 from the mod chip installer. But I didn't have a PS2 before then.
