My Street hits store shelves

Sony has released its first multiplayer online party game, featuring a multitude of classic mini-games designed for all audiences. Well, that's the intended direction. Though to be honest, I don't think teens or adults will be keenly interested in what <i>My Street</i> has to offer.

The entire atmosphere feels specifically aimed towards younger audiences, which I don't find to be a bad thing whatsoever. Overall, the scope of existing titles are more suited towards older gamers.

The essence of <i>My Street</i> centers around navigating your character throughout a virtual neighborhood, challenging other kids to seven unique mini-game contests. A few of them I remember personally playing when I was younger, namely volleyball and dodgeball. Other games include RC Racing, Marbles, Chemistry, Lawn Mowers (what?) and Chicken Herding. All of the games can be played offline or on offering a variety of game parameters which can be configured for added depth and challenge.

<i>My Street</i> contains three gameplay modes (Story mode, Play Mode and Online Mode). I didn't have the opportunity to personally experience what the Online Mode is like since this report is based upon the demo. Much like the existing online games, players can create their old unique alter-ego, chill in the virtual lobby, converse with othr games in text chats and most importantly - engage other gamers throughout the online network.

The concept of it seems very interesting, but with all the negative feedback I'm hearing about it, I'll wait until I either see it up for rental, or on sale for $20 in two weeks at Replay.

um...it's dry and would be no different than if you played it online.
