Thread: Actors vs. Rich White Guys

  1. Actors vs. Rich White Guys

Shareholders, CEOs, and other coroporate types....they make a million a year and WATCH OUT!!!

Actors, singers, musicians, entertainers....they make a million, maybe in as short a time as a single syndicated TV episode, and...all bow before them?

    What?

How can entertainers camp on the left for almost every issue, and yet other rich people are ostricized with every 'greedy capitalist pig' stereotype?

    I'm still confused.

  2. Entertainers have no obligation to anyone. They do their craft to entertain people. CEO's are always trying to gain an advantage over competitors through deregulation and fewer obstructions. They are obligated to their shareholders. Entertainers are only obligated to themselves. You see their movies because you want to, not because you need to assess their craft in order to determine how Hollywood is being run. They are two completely different industries that are based on two entirely different kinds of systems. It's easy to see how that would confuse you.

Not to oversimplify (hah), but a great majority of committed left-wingers are people who don't have to work very hard. Simple as that.

Wealthy actors, entertainment execs, college professors, socialized Europeans, the hordes on the welfare roles, people comfortable with bemoaning oppression, not-for-profit workers, unionized teachers, and college students - see a pattern? The cornerstones of the left-wing movement are all groups that don't have to work or think very hard, who rely on society and the government to take care of them. Entertainers are a natural fit.

Even in the context of the entertainment industry, you can see this pattern. A 22-year old model? Democrat. A 32-year old tackle who sacrifices himself all year, training and playing football? Republican. Some 20 year old techno musician? Democrat. A 28-year old hip hop artist, former drug dealer, who is making millions of dollars now on music and his clothing line? Republican.

Hell, who is the only noticeable Democrat in Hip Hop that isn't part of the "underground" (if you want to call it that - J5, Dead Prez, whatever)? Russell Simmons, who has spent the last 20 years stealing from his artists.

  4. Don't forget the Scientology.
bastard of the new world order.

  5. So if you work a real job, you should be Republican, and if you're lazy and well-off, you should be Democrat (in general)?
Never under any circumstance scrutinize the mastication orifice of a gratuitous herbivorous quadruped.

Better watch out. Such claims and insinuations are sure to get you shot around here.

  7. /me puts on kevlar vest, pokes hornets nest...

If someone wants to shoot me, fine. All I'll say is that my previous question could be take as sarcastic or not. I ain't saying.

How can christians camp on the right for almost every issue, and support a war when it says quite clearly in the 10 commandments "thou shalt not kill"? I mean, did Jesus blow up Rome "for the greater good" so they'd stop oppressing people?

    What?

And why do christians become apologists for the wealthy when the Bible tells them "it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of Heaven"?

    I'm still confused.

EDIT: I think the text here sounds a bit nastier than I intended, but hopefully you see my point. (And who bows down before celebrities?)

I love the classic conservative argument: "Every rich person is an extremely intelligent, dedicated person who has rightfully earned their money through hard work, dedication, and self-sacrifice. Except for rich liberals, they're all dumb lazy bastards who lucked into their wealth."

Hey, how'd our President get his cash? Sure as fuck wasn't hard work.

Dude, it's all about picking and choosing your passages. There's plenty in the Bible to support destroying your enemies as mercilessly as possible. You just have to ignore certain parts (like the entire New Testament).

So let me get this straight...college professors don't think very hard, but Puff Daddy does? A pro athlete with a 5 month season and a 20 hour work week is an icon of work ethic, but an executive doesn't count if his corporation produces entertainment products? (Wait...isn't that Puff Daddy?)

I think you may be overgeneralizing just a tad here, unless 48% of the American voting populace is made up of welfare bums and techno artists.
