True, but Master Funakoshi was far more secular than Ryu. Musashi spent much of his life living in a cave. I can see Ryu doing something like that...

Yep, supposedly the few run of the game is a JAMMA board in order to ward off rom dumping. I'd still like to know what the "extra" chip in the MVS version is supposed to do. With 30 characters, a memory booster seems unlikely. *-neo

True. The only problem I have is that the wandering martial artist type character goes back way before Musashi - it first shows up in Japanese literature with Yoshitsune (whose story Lucas borrowed from quite liberally for Luke Skywalker) and predates that by hundreds of years in Chinese sources.

So unless there's something specific that would relate him to Musashi, I'm hesitant to just paint all characters of that type with the same brush. On the other hand, I'm not Japanese, so who knows what associations come to mind?

As for Zero and the Mars people being in it, if nothing else they did an excellent photoshop job there (how would you do the glare on the monitor?). If it is faked, I can't tell. Looks like they even got the art style right.
