Thread: Enclave

  1. Only one trap sequence gave me trouble that I can remember -- dark campaign, the hallway of death in the haunted house. Check points would've made for a pretty dull game, I think.

Well, We are lucky that its changeble. But whose idea was to set up the initial controlls like that in the first place? Plus its kinda hard to read manual when you renting the game, you know

But even with changed controlls layout, the game is somewhat unresponsive. I think it was created as a PC game in mind, so mouse + keyboard controlls would work best.

Mode, Your gaming skills have been hardened by all those shmups

  3. Enclave completely nailed the medieval, sword and sorcery atmosphere. Awesome architectural designs and cool character designs. Also, it had an excellent user interface, with streamlined equipping options.

Traps were not a problem, but the game still presented a pretty stiff challenge. An underrated game, IMO, and I understand that the PC rev represents a further improvmement.

Supposedly, Enclave 2 is in the works, and I'm all for it. Iron out a few issues, and they could turn out a real winner.

I always meant to rent the Xbox version but I never got around to it.

The PC demo was okay but it didn't blow me away. I imagine the full game is better because of the larger character selection. My initial is impression was "This seems like Rune but a better".

  5. I'm resurrecting this only because I went back to Enclave over the holiday weekend to "clean up" -- find some missed gold, etc. Still a very fun (and good looking) game, albeit with a few rough spots. The level and character designs are still top notch. Those of you looking for a solid action/adventure game may want to grab it -- I assume it's dirt cheap.

Also, it prompted me to check out the progress on Enclave II. Starbreeze's site suggests it's well into development (along with a few other interesting titles). Was there anything at E3 on it?

So it keeps track of stuff like that? I like games that have an added challenge. Beat the level...now find all the goodies sort of thing

  7. Yep. I was missing a paltry 150 gold from the entire Light Campaign, thereby permitting me to unlock only 1 of 2 extra characters. That sort of thing bugs me.

Anyway, I was surprised at how fun it was to go back through the game. Tough, too.

Edit: I also forgot about the often suberb music, ranging from beautifully melodic to downright eerie.

  8. I reviewed this for TNL many moons ago. Definitely has its problems but it's certainly well worth picking up for 13 beans. You could do A LOT worse.

  9. the pc rev is basically the xbox version with REALLY nice, sharper graphics. pump it up past 1024*768 and it just shines.

  10. Plus they fixed controls, and added mid-points to the levels. I need to pick up PC version, and actually finish it.
