Thread: The Victory Thread

  1. Once again you are incorrect.
You do NOT have the freedom to say whatever you want no matter how disgusting.
there are specific laws dealing with specific things wich you can not say without getting into legal problems.
Incitement to hatred for instance, you also cant say you want to kill the president for instance, not even in jest.
those are two examples so yes youre wrong again.

We can't say fun things like, "Man, I'd really love to stab Dubya in the neck with a pencil!" even in jest because of the terrorists. If those damned terrorists hadn't come along, we would've had our rights taken away much later than this. Two years ago, you could've posted a detailed assassination plot to the CIA and they'd have laughed it off.

You can't joke about having a bomb on an airplane anymore, nor can you make an ironic music about one. And jokes about fires in a crowded theater are still out of the question, sadly enough.

But you CAN do all of that still, minus personal/literal threats. It's not accepted, but it's still possible.

    This isn't even remotely true.
bastard of the new world order.

  6. Yes it is, several people have been arrested for saying stuff like ill kill him if i see him about the president.
And the examples at airports are also correct.
You can be prosecuted for saying I carry a gun in jest etcetera.

  7. You cannot say you are going to kill the presedent if he is within a certain mile radius from your position upon saying it.

I live in PA, and right now Bush is in the White House (or where ever he is), I'm perfectly fine saying that I want to kill him (which I don't). If, however, he was touching down at the Philadelphia airport, from which I live a measley 15 mins, and I said I wanted to kill him, I would most certainly be detained in some fashion or another.

This is all dependant on the preception of the witness, though. If the witness thinks I was joking, I'm safe. If the witness thinks I was serious, he has every right and authority to turn me in.

  8. Well, no kidding. It consitutes a threat.

You'd probably get busted for shouting "I'll kill you!" at a supermarket manager too, if you looked like you ment it.

But not if the manager wasn't around to hear it. That's the difference.

  10. But, it's not like the president manages a supermarket. He runs an entire friggin' country, for Pete's sake. It's a bit different.
