If driving to Maryland in order to go to Otakon is considered vacation, I guess so.

I haven't been on an actual vacation in years (I know, I sound like a hick or something). But this year, my bad luck ends. I plan on going to Maine later this summer/early fall. Probably go to Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and then into Maine.
Road tripping is excellent. Interstates at sunset, windows down and music cranked. At that moment, you could die happy because you'd be experiencing the best that life has to offer.
Anybody else planning a nice vacation this year?

I also want to go on a long road trip to see the country. I have always wanted to do something exactly like you just mentioned. How much does a trip like that cost you in the end?
Barf! Barf! Barf!
I'm 25 and I've never went anywhere on "vacation".
Anytime I take time off I always just wanna chill around the house n' chill and such. Especially since I've had my own home for the last couple years and a g/f who works/goes to college, finding a week where we can just leave is a tough call...
I've driven from Wisconsin to Mississippi/Lousiana a bunch of times though, and like Jimmy said, it's a cool feeling just to get out on the road and get your drive on.
And house building.Originally posted by ChaoofNee

Depends on how much you want to spend. And how good of shape your car is in. I'm still paying for last year's trip to E3 (car died in California).Originally posted by El Clash Mizastah

In general, you just need to figure out milage/gas costs, add your eating in, add cost for a check up (car) beforehand, add AAA and then top it off with extra spending. You can go really barebones. It basically comes down to how much you feel like putting into it.
And I do heartily reccommend AAA. We would have been sunk without it.

Last time I took a vacation, I was let go upon returning to work. :(
I was never one for extensive travel, but a trip to Greece or Rome would be nice. Maybe in 2004.
As far as driving cross-country, maybe I'll go visit Reno in Ontario some time. I hear Toronto is a great little town.
And you know I'm getting to Tokyo eventually. I wonder how many miles that is by car? :p
The question is: can it be done? I suppose by ship. But riding on a boat for such a long time would be boring.Originally posted by Nick

I plan on travelling once I graduate and start making money. There are quite a few countries I want to visit, and just thinking about it makes me all anxious inside. God, I can't wait.

In May I SHOULD be going to E3, but I have to leave on the last day so I can make it back up to Northern California in time to catch a flight out to Illinois the next morning. I'll be there for a week with my parents just visiting my dads side of the family. Nothing too big.
