Have you tried defragging your computer? Or scandisk'ing it?
Those infernal ninjas flipped out and caused my Windows Explorer to stop working. I'm not sure what the problem is, but since the beginning of the year, moving/copying/renaming files or folders takes over 30 seconds to process.
If you could lead me in the direction of an alternative to the program that doesn't suck, that'd be capital.

There's likely something wrong inside Windows, switching interfaces probably won't fix it. Try defragging / scandisking like cka said. Run a virus check, run Ad Aware, look for any programs in your Start > Programs > Startup or registry key hkey_local_computer > software > microsoft > windows > current version > run (also check that location under hkey_current_user). Also look for weird services that may be running (if on nt/2000/xp), but if you don't know much about those then leave them alone.
If you do check the registry, BE CAREFUL. Killing something you shouldn't can kill the computer.
Your best bet may be scandisking/defragging, then installing another copy of Windows in a different folder. In Win2000/XP, a new entry will be made in the bootloader and you'll be able to choose which system to boot. In Win9x, it will just switch the default system to the new one and won't give you a choice.
This may be something to get a tech friend to look at your computer for.
the same thing happened to me when i tried to uninstal that BonziBuddy bullshit spyware package. hell, i couldnt even open up My Computer. check and see if you have any spyware installed on your computer. go get AdAware and scan your system.
Dudes, he's asking for an alternative to WINDOWS Explorer, not Internet Explorer.
I use Windows Commander, because Windows Explorer pretty much blows even when it's working properly. It also has built-in FTP capabilities as well, which come in very handy.
Total Commander

It used to be called Windows Commander, but I'm sure MS gave them some shit about that name, so they were forced to change it. And if there's something in the program's interface or controls that you don't like, it's pretty easily customized to your liking.
For the record though, I agree with the guy above who says this is probably an issue with your computer or Windows and not Windows Explorer specifically.
To hell with all that just reformat. I try to atleast once a year to keep things running at optimum. I'm glad too cus I worry less about what software I install cus I'll have a clean slate every year.
