Thread: Nintendo scores strong sales success

  1. Nintendo scores strong sales success

It should come as no surprise that Nintendo is proudly making proclaimations regarding its latest software and hardware releases. We're of course talking about Zelda: The Wind Waker, Pokemon Sapphire / Ruby, and the all-new front-lit, flip-top "wow, it looks like a laptop" GBA SP.

The new Zelda release set a new Nintendo record, selling over 600,000 copies to consumers even before its official ship date. Retailers are practically selling through their entire shipment, while sales for the Nintendo Gamecube have also seen an increase of 20 percent.

On the handheld front, the new Pokemon installment, a blockbuster seller in Japan, has sold over 2.2 million copies here In North America. Despite Yu-Gi-Oh being the newest trend in the market, the figures clearly show that the Pokemon phenomenon still has plenty of spark and interest to go around.

As for the GBA SP, units literally have been flying off the shelves, matching the raucous receptions in Japan and Europe. The rapid interest in the redesigned unit has retailers making every effort to accomodate eager customers looking to get purchase their own personal unit.

"While no one will know the champion of this season's college basketball tournament until next week, the winner of this spring's video game tournament is Nintendo," says Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing, Nintendo of America Inc. "Game Boy Advance SP, Zelda and Pokemon represent a three-point play that players and retailers dream about."

this is off-topic but...didn't you previously have an account as this before, requested to be Sasha. (andnow you re-registered?) O_o

  6. Bahn, no, that was like 3 months ago when I originally had problems signing up to the site. If you recall(which, if you did, this explanation wouldn't be necessary) , I never received a bounceback e-mail when I signed up with my first account. The next day, I signed up with another account and, AGAIN, no bounceback. After 2 days, I was able to post. However, sleeveboy P/M'ed me to let me know that multiple accounts were not allowed. When I explained the initial problem, he just told me to let him know which account I wanted to kill. No biggie....as a matter of fact, it was all remedied quickly.

  7. We can restore any old account for you dude regardless of bounceback issues. We have access to every element of the board. Registering another account is futile...if you have problems, just contact us.

  8. But isn't it the stuff dreams are made out of.

  9. bahn, thanks.

sleeveboy was very helpful when I spoke to him.....a long time ago.

BTW, how's your buddy that used to work for Konami? Is he enjoying GMR?
