Thread: The Most Amazing Story Ever

  1. The Most Amazing Story Ever

Alot of us were getting together at this guy's house in north Dallas. We took two cars and went to this Mexican place in a strip mall. So we're sitting there waiting for the food to come, and all of the sudden it starts hailing a little bit...nothing major, just smaller than pea size. Both this guy and I are kinda worried, though, because I have an '02 Nissan Pathfinder, and he has an '01 Volkswagen Jetta. A couple minutes later, it moved up to golf ball/ping pong size. I freaked, ran out the door, and drove my car up on the sidewalk under the canopy of an old closed down Tom Thumb grocery storein that strip mall. The other guy ended up doing the same thing.

So we eat, and pay, and it comes time to leave. I'm worried about taking the cars out from their safe place and so is the other guy. Everyone starts messing with us saying "yeah, it's just waiting for you to come out so it can hail even harder." We go ahead and leave anyway, back to my friend's house. The strip mall is on a southeast corner, so the other driver goes east and does a U-turn to go west and then south about a mile down to my friend's house. I know the area a bit better, so I drive across the old grocery store parking lot and take a left to go south and then west to the house.

We get back to his place and they're getting out when I get a call from a girl in the other car, saying they've run into the biggest #@$@! hail they've ever seen. I ask her like 3 or 4 times if she's joking, and then the guy driving the car starts yelling "#$@$@!! THAT @$!@ BROKE!" "THAT'S #@$@$ EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE" so on and so forth. So I go and park under a gas station about a mile south and west for a while. I never saw a single bit of hail while I was there, and there was never a single bit at my friend's house either. After about 30 minutes, I took the car back under the old grocery store just in case, and have my friend come and pick me up.

It turns out that the other guy's car had the windshield seriously cracked in the corner and there's little dents all over it...maybe 100-200. I just got back home to Frisco and thoroughly inspected my car...flawless. I missed about $1,000+ worth of damage by a couple of blocks. Simply amazing to me.

  2. Yeah, my mom called me earlier today and told me there was golfball-sized hail around our house, and it was probably damaging the cars.

I guess there are some things about Dallas I don't really miss too much
    omg TNL epics!

  3. I hate hail. Last year we had nickel sized hail. It was actually quite amazing, because it sounded like a thousand golf balls being dropped on our room at once. I looked outside and the ground was completely white, like it'd snowed.

Sometimes, though, the white ground is a bad indicator: Heavy hail can mean tornadoes.
bastard of the new world order.

  4. I remember once, when I was pretty young, we were playing in my babysitter's backyard. It started to hail this huge golf ball size hail stones, so we ducked in the shed. Unfortunetly the thing locked on us and we were stuck in there for a couple of hours (ok, maybe just one).
    your mom

  5. Yea I was at loews seeing Spirited Away with two friends when there was 10 min left with the movie and we started hearing a tapping sound, then like the roof starting banging loudly so finally when the movie was over we walked out the exit and it was hailing sooo hard. This humongous piece like slightly under the size of a baseball landed right in front of us and we just all ran to cover.

Later I went out again, one because it looked cool to see the hail and two I wanted to see how many cars got their windsields broken in. Sure enough we found a couple, one with these two chicks just standing there staring at their ruined back window. Finally I got nailed straight in the head so I ran inside cause that hurt something painful.

  6. ive seen a person get knocked out by a hail stone. not pretty.
