Thread: Star Soldier for the Cube?

  1. Star Soldier for the Cube?

  2. According to Gamefront, it's one of two Hudson classics (Lode Runner being the other) getting a remake on Gamecube and scheduled for a July release.

I REALLY hope it's not based on the Famicom version (as rumored) which was a horrid piece of crap. The PCE titles are the cream of the crop. *-neo

  3. If this is true, maybe it'll be time to pick up those SNES-like pads for the GC

  4. This gets a holy crap from me. Soldier Blade is one of my all time favorite shooters.

I sort of doubt that's what they're doing though :/

  5. Damn, for some reason I thought Star Parodier. I am actually looking forward to the Lode Runner remake, esp if it has bombermen

  6. I want the PCE character in it

  7. I'm kinda leery, especially when they messed up Vanishing Earth. The lack of weapon change powerups sucked. Super Star Soldier plays a lot better than VE.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  8. I REALLY hope it's not based on the Famicom version (as rumored) which was a horrid piece of crap.
Blasphemy. The original Star Soldier is a great little game- you do however have to remember that it was designed as one of those "Caravan" competition games and not necessarily a full blown title.

This could be the best thing ever. Although if it turns out anything like the N64 game they can keep it. Fingers crossed.

    Interesting, I didn't know that.

Recca, another one of those Famicom competition games, is probably the best 8-bit shooter ever.

Recca, Gun Nac, and Zanac are good Famicom shooters, Star Soldier is incredibly basic and doesn't excel in any area. Roger's review at Shmups echoes my sentiments. If the game gets a Zanac Neo style upgrade it could be great but I'll reserve judgement til then. *-neo
