Thread: How Important are Game Endings to you?

Intro's are made to try and draw you in, show you what goodness lay within. By the time you've reached the ending, you've already bought the game, and the developers don't care about you anymore

While we're on the subject of endings, games that supposedly provide "bonus" endings for collecting all the hearts, powercells, yellow stars, blue moons and purple diamonds, and then give you nothing but "Cake" for it, really get my goat. Mario 64 and Jak and Daxter were some of the worse offenders of that for me.

And lets not get into Zelda 64 and the Skultulas.

  2. Yes, endings are very important to me. If I'm gonna put in an assload of time, there had better be some kind of payoff, rather than just some lame ass Congratulations and then the credits. Its like Congratulations for what, wasting my time? I keep a big archive of save states and dex drive saves so that if I want to see an ending again, I can just load it up.

From that latter post, it sounds like you have about 3 stages to go. Keep at it. The ending is a hearty 20 min of emotional tear-jerking fluff not seen in any videogame or movie since the end of The English Patient.

  4. Ok, I will try to keep at it. I will finish playing Zelda and then I will get right back to KOS-MOS

Well, in case of Silent Hill 2, there are multiple endings you can get, based on what you do during the game, and some open up only in replay mode.

Yeah, but the endings are better than Silent Hill 1. The first game was incredibly vague and even the good endings cleared little up. Part 2 has better pacing and a better pay-off. I actually feel compelled to check out the rest of SH2's endings. *-neo
