I'm so glad to her you say this.

Zombie went overboard with weird footage, negatives, fast cuts and without sense of any direction it all become pointless.
Agreed 100%. It was like he couldn't decide if he wanted to make a movie or a music video.

I didnt care much about characters, both victims and villians, the only characters I liked was Spaulding(now that guy was pretty cool) and Baby(fine, fine, fine).
    Again, agreed (especially about Baby).

All the before mentioned extreeme violence was NON EXISTANT.
Yeah, way too many people got killed with guns for a horror movie. And like I said before, no extra gore could save this movie. And what about the scene where Otis shot the cop, but Zombie drew out the shot FOREVER, slowly panning out and up for what seemed like 2 minutes before he FINALLY shot him. It might have made for some tension if this was a major, well-developed character that was about to get blown away, but the cop was a dick who was just introduced 5 minutes earlier.

I honestly had more fun from watching Captain Spaulding monologs on main menu and Baby's Special Features then whole damn movie.
I read about those special features...how are they done? They sounded cool, especially the Baby stuff.

Another problem that it felt like 100% rip off from TCM, especially with Otis wearing human face as a MASK. The only thing was missing is god damn chainsaw.
Yup, the movie was very unoriginal. I thought the only really good parts where towards the end when Dr. Satan and the big guy with the axe was running around, and that part was only, like, 5 minutes long. Man, was this movie a let-down.

I think movie can be successful when done in the simular manner, when you CARE about what is going on in it, and its characters. Here all of the characters came out quite unlikable and rather dumb. And again all the wierd fx, cuts and such can be used to create a creepy atmosphere, but Zombie here seemed to be more interested in showing off his visual flare skils. Not a good decision.

I usually more of brunette type of guys, but she indeed looked much better than other two chicks in the film. Lucky Zombie

Man, I forgot about that cop scene. I was WAITING, and WAITING, and WAITING and then finally he shot him. It wasnt even of any kind of surprise how the scene ended. Just a waste of 3 minutes on pointless scene and I agree that cop was an asshole anyway. And when Mother shot the cop in the house, they didnt even show much of the bullet impact. I mean damn, when movie like Bad Boys 2 can show brains splatter after head shot, and deep and sadistic horror film like this shy away from gore, its fucked up.

Those are actually awesome. First you have a small counter bell that you have to ring and then Cid Haig comes out and his monolog starts. If you let the main menue sit idle, Captain Spaulding will go one for like 5 minutes worth of very funny speaches, eats some chicken and a pie, calls you Fucker numerous times. I thought it was ingenious way to set up menues, and very very original. You can see Baby hosting special features option where she gigle and jokes for a while, looking good. And she also shared the screen with Otis and Spaulding in Sound Set up screen where they make fun of nerdy Bill guy from the movie, and it also last for like 5 minutes. Plus otis goes into his phylosphical rant in Scene Selection, and its just weird. Overall the menues on dvd were 100% more entertaining than WHOLE DAMN MOVIE.

I actually HATED the later part, especially when last girl got into underground. It had become so ridiculous up to that point, so underground caves full of mutants and crazies were just BAD. And the worst part was it was just too unbelievable. You can believe into the family of inbred psychos, but underground mutant storage with lights and fans and tvs? No fuckin way.

This about sums it up. If the menus on the movie DVD are more entertaining then the movie itself, you know something's wrong.

Still, I might have to give it a rent just to see these menus. It'll be the first time I do that but don't watch the movie itself.

And this is a major element missing from most horror movies nowadays: character development. If the audience gets to know and like the characters a lot, they're care more if they're in danger and get pissed if they're killed. Zombie never bothered to do that with the victims in his crappy film.

  4. I saw wrong turn, it was alright. It had some good ideas, but as a whole it's nothing that hasn't been done a few dozen times before. It could have easily been a student film. They just had stan winston on effects duty and a bigger budget than a student film.

  5. From what I heard Wrong Turn is much more violent than House, so it makes the film in the title of this thread even more lame, especially with all the claims and raves of its dark and twisted nature. Pfftt.

  6. Just saw it, and I can't understand what all the fuss is. Are we so hard up for a good horror movie these days that complete trash like this gets so much attention? The worse thing is there wasn't an ounce of originality in the entire movie. The only thing that saves it from a complete waste of time is Capt Spaulding, he is hilarious.
Right, because if anything validates the existance of a handheld piece of shit, it's taking those shitty handheld games and placing them on a screen big enough so that the inherent flaws of the software is visible to all humans. Including Ray Charles.

Yes, Unfortunately you nailed the problem right on the head. There are not that many good horror films anymore, and with alot of hype and controversey about coming back to the roots of violent films of 70s and, HO1KC gained alot of momentum, but it all felt short at the end.
