Thanks for the info! I have been dying to hear more about this game. I am happy to hear good things after that dodgy IGN report... (I think it was IGN?)...
Anyway, Cheers!![]()
I know it's a been a while since I played it (it was back in February), but I thought I'd put my 2 cents in on this.
From the few screenshots around on the 'net, you'll instantly think that this is a Metal Slug kind of game. Well, in a lot of ways it is. Most of the game mechanics and the style of the game itself is like it, but there are a few things that do make it its own game. The characters have a definite anime look and some of the larger enemies and vehicles are made of polygons (Strider 2 come to mind, anyone?) Of course, you'll get your share of 3D effects and parallax.
Aside from the usual run & gun action stages you expect, there are a few stages that are high-speed, forced scrolling (and a few underwater sequences too). This is where you use the "acrobat" feature, which basically allows for and extra attack or defensive move. In the above-water sequences, you either "slide" along the bottom or do a close-range attack with your dolphin when you jump. (It also adds a little height). In the underwater sequence, the dolphin bounces around the screen, "locking on" to enemies. Using the dolphin is what will definitely help you escape danger.
From what I've played, I think it's a great opener for the Atomiswave system, but MS5 fever might be a threat.
I might have a few pics somewhere.......

Thanks Seven! I've been seeing this on the back cover of Arcadia for months and crossing my fingers that it'd be good. And since it's on the Atomiswave which I assume is rather spendy ala Naomi, my fingers are also crossed that it'll come home.

Good little summary. It's due out in May, correct? I hope the final product lives up to expectations...

Yep, Sammy delayed the launch of the Atomiswave unit and games til May due to "quality control". I guess some folks have not been impressed with the intial titles. *-neoOriginally posted by Click_Stick
