Wow! An all asian cast!
Have you guys heard of this movie? It's getting a lot of buzz, in part because it features an all-Asian cast, and in part, because, well, its supposed to be really good.
And I saw it, and it IS very good. Justin Lin will, I guarantee it, become a pretty big filmmaker. He has a fine grasp for the art and language of film, and he knows how to write a film too.
Better Luck Tomorrow kind of reminds me of a mini-Goodfellas - now its not as good as that movie (but what is), but the storyline has some similarities, and it seems to pay homage in a few parts.
Anyway, this movie has great dialogue, great acting, and an excellent, massively entertaining storyline. Its brutal in tone but powerful. I liked it a great deal.
Right now, its only out in Los Angeles and New York, but see it if you get the chance. Its very, very good, and Justin Lin is going to be a pretty big filmmaker in a few years.
Anyone else see it? Thoughts?

Yeah, I have seen the previews on MTV. The whole MTV thing kind of scared me, but it looked really cool. Kind of like a Korean film w/ the way it was shot from what I could see.
your mom
Well I just saw a Trailer for it on TV, but the way it was put together and how it ended It looked like some sort of MTV movie or Teen awareness spot. Glad to know it's a real Film, and it's nice to see an Asian cast in a non martial arts Movie too. I will plan on seeing this, not out where I am. I think the guy from American Pie is in it, he looked familar.
YellerDog: Hey man, how many American films got that? Its kind of a big deal, especially when the parts aren't token ass-kickers or token nerds or some shit.
Mman: Yea, it does kinda have that vibe, but only a little. Its definitely an American film more than it is Asian. Pretty sure all the people in it are Chinese-American, for what its worth.
Uhh... no... there's not. So shoo to you.Originally posted by Klonoa
Theres probably a token white racist somewhere in the movie.
