The redesigned PS2

Why is it that we need a stupid remote way to open the damned tray ? It's like if you're close enough to change the disc, you're close enough to press the eject button.

In any case, apart from System Link did the firewire port support anything else ? A cam ? A perpheral ? Anything ?

I watch regionless dvds on my PS2, so that prog-scan mode sounds nice. I wouldn't mind picking one up when it hits the sub-200 dollar range.

Bah. This is basically just a DVD upgrade and I already own a regionless DVD player from the future that can do all the ooh ah crap.

my guess is its going to be like the other new models

the 30000r
the what 30001
and the most recent 390001

which means most consumers wont know the difference of it
and probably wont know about it

This really makes things easier for pirates. There was debate about V5, V7 etc., so it's nice to see that sony has listened to consumer demand and come out with a more pirate friendly version. +R and -R? Most xboxes can't do both formats. They remembered to cover all bases this time around! It will still probably be sometime before a chip is made for this revision though.

*sigh* Do I HAVE to explain this to you, negitoro? First of all, if you sit in a chair while you play then you simply press the button to open and the tray is already dispersed and ready for a swap when you reach the try. And when you put the disc in you can resume your sedintary moment quickly, not fumbling around to press a small button.

GEEZ! It's so obvious...

I have 4 remotes for my HD TV, like I need another one for my PS2. I think I'll have to duct tape them altogether for convenience purposes and reformat the buttons so any I cover up with the tape do nothing. Yes yes, this is a plan, perhaps some sort of additional juice dispensor... *wanders off in thought*
