Thread: X-Men 2

  1. Yes, in the comic, she became Pheonix, then Dark Pheonix, which was the evil one.

It was around 137 or so in Uncanny, when they were in space with the Starjammer and the Shi'ar or whatever, and it pretty much came down to the Universe or DP has to go.

Then she died in a solar thing or something, and came back in Avengers 263 or so.

    It was meh.

Without the super-healing of Wolverine and Sabretooth, she couldn't have survived the Weapon X operation, I assume, which means she couldn't take any shots from Logan, but, whatever.

... What movie were you watching? It directly showed a scene where the claw marks on her face healed...

  3. Not bad, but not worth 7 bucks.
Jesus, you're cheaper than I am. I got mine for 6 though.

I still don't understand why iceman didn't get out and just make a wall of ice or something.
I dunno maybe he could have. The way I see it he's still a kid developing his powers and his powers aren't as nearly developed as the comics(like no icing up which I would have LOVED to have seen, and no ice slides/javelins).

Even if he did make a wall of ice(which didn't have any type of pressure pressed against it when he did) it would have to be thick as fuck and hold back a huge flood of water. Jean was the best equiped with the Phoenix force emerging and the ending wouldn't have had as much of an impact as well as opening possibilities for X3.

    - Like when Cyclops 'mysteriously' wakes up from mind control after being hit by Jean
I can only imagine Jean released this mind control since she's telepathic. I see what you mean though.
    - How they can't blast the door of Cerebro down (for fear of Prof X) but a sub zero snow storm is just fine
Storm made it just cold enough to shake down Jason(Stryker's son) but to keep from killing anyone. I can also argue though that Jean could have just severed Jason's illusion but I won't get into all that. It was pretty funny though that they just left the other guy inside while Cerebro caved in.
    - The absolutely useless neural inhibitor that keeps the Prof in check just fine after it's been removed
Yeah I thought that was quite odd. I guess somehow Xavier took it off while being under control to access Cerebro but that should have been explained more.
    - How Jean dies because all the logical ways for her to escape were conveniently eliminated
I didn't really start making up mental notes while watching the movie to see how many ways she can escape. :P
    - The fact we have a convenient mutant controlling drug but no mutant army
That a good point but that wasn't his main goal, he wanted to wipe out all the mutants with his son and Xavier which would even sacrifice his own who were under control. Stryker wasn't that trusting to use a whole mutant army to get the job done, he's still a mutant hater and uses mutants as experimental pawns like Wolverine who was a 'failed attempt' in his eyes. He only used the liquid only to his advantage(the one shot deal with Nightcrawler in the White house, got Magneto to confess to the location of the school). BTW the liquid is made up of broken down genetic material from his son.
    - The fact Magneto can easily reconfigure Cerebro by moving the ceiling tiles around
Well he did build it with Xavier.

[quote]How does Nightcrawler teleport and not be at 32FPS when he comes back in the plane?[quote]
Do you mean why he didn't teleport back into the blackbird at the same speed he was falling?

How does the Pheonix thing start and fly a plane
If you remember in the beginning she shorted out the tv's and other electronics so that was within the range of her developing phoenix power.

Also, what were DeathStryke's powers? I know she had the adamantium claws, but, I recall her having some sort of exo-skeleton, or being a cyborg or something. Without the super-healing of Wolverine and Sabretooth, she couldn't have survived the Weapon X operation, I assume, which means she couldn't take any shots from Logan, but, whatever. I think it's pretty ridiculous how they gloss over the Wolvie/Sabretooth relationship, but seeing how much of a retard they made him in the first movie, I suppose it's best they just left him out.
Yeah, before the adamantium skeleton and nails she only has a mutant healing ability which made her the perfect candidate for the Weapon X program. In the comics she did all this stuff to herself to get revenge on Logan for her father's demise and she turned into a self repairing adamantium cyborg with skin like talons. They changed this but I don't know why, perhaps the cyborg makeup she'd have to undergo would be too much to handle or something. I thought she looked cool like that though.

  4. Issue in final scene regarding alternate methods:

I don't think Iceman could have done the ice barrier. In the film he is still young and learning his powers, right? He doesn't even know how to make his protective shell of ice yet. So that's a good reason.

I saw the movie and I loved it. I don't know all of this hullabaloo with the comics, but this movie is entertaining. I have a vague understanding of the comics, and the cartoon and I enjoyed it.

  5. Ok first off for the ice wall thing, last I checked unless he could have freezed all of the water at once, it's physically impossible, that's about 5-12 tons of pressure there, which would shatter ice instantly, leaving them in the excact same position so take ice man out. Storm, actually she could have created a couple hundred water spouts to absorb all the water, but even that wouldn't work to well. Why couldn't Nightcrawler save her? I have a quote from the X-men evolution show "Here's how it goes, (Some sound effect like Poof), Poof, poof, Splat." something around that line they were already high in the air, and if he were to do it any sooner, they all get swept away. So I think it makes perfect sense.

  6. About the Phoenix saga:
I'm actually happy that they threw that in there at the end cus it shows that they were trying to set the wheels in motion for a third. However I don't know if they pull it off without taking huge liberties with it. I remember that The Phoenix Saga delt with some intergalactic war and shit like that and I doubt they are willing to go there. My guess is that they are just going to jump onto The Dark Phoenix Saga and be forced to exercise it from Jean.

I hope they go into Fatal Attractions next. That is by far one of my favorite arcs in the series.

and oh yeah X-2 was about one trillion times better than the first, though the end dragged on for what seemed like an eternity.

Yeah, she had that in the movie, but I didn't think her actual character had healing powers or an adamantium skeletion...in fact, as far as comic canon is concerned, she had cybernetic implants and some "alien" metamorphic procedure...so when I say she couldn't take a shot, I mean, Wolvie's claws would cut right through her, not leave scratches.

Yeah I thought so to until I read the X2 bios and stuff. I liked when Wolverine impaled her all the way through and lifted her up with both his claws in the end-fight, that was neat.

  9. All this white... o_O

As for the inhibitor thing, my guess was that it was used to keep Xavier from doing anything until Jason came in. Once he had a control over the Prof.'s mind, he was influencing and controlling his actions. So, no need for an inhibitor.
