Thread: Help a brotha out!

  1. Help a brotha out!

Yep, I finally have a website to myself. The problem is that I don't know jack about making 'em. (*n00b alert!*)

Shoot any advice, gripes, suggestions, whatever here.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Steal all you can. I'm serious.

Not just designs from websites you like, but also programs and books from chain bookstores and software outlets.

Make a giant pile of Website related materials, climb to the top, and pray once a day.

You will find the anwsers you seek.

  3. http://www.webmonkey.com is a good resource.

  4. um, as far as content, some pictures of game shops in Japan would be nice

The Akiguide (TFP people) hasn't gotten very far yet, so it would be cool to see a gameshop guide of somesort. Help this brotha out...

I've never made anything other than basic HTML shit for work, so I have no real suggestions from the technical side.

Taught me HTML in under 3 hours. Granted I don't know it in depth, but again, I only studied it for less than 3 hours. Spend some time there, and you'll learn all you need to know.

  6. I have nothing to say but that basic html is easy to learn. Keep the design simple so that a lack of ability won't hamper the design much.

what sort of site will it be?

  7. A game-related site covering some of the obscure stuff.

  8. A good place to learn the basics:

  9. Keep t straight foward and simple. No one watches flash intro's more than once. Keep that shit well organized and easy to access and you're cookies.

Ah, damn, someone beat me to the HTMLGoodies reference. =)

The site has sort of gone downhill since he started getting sponsors and ads and whatnot. Still good, though.
