Thread: Photography

  1. Yea those photos are pretty smooth, and I look foward to learning a bit more about my camera.

Being able to look at stuff that's far away is nice, but I've always been more of a macro guy myself.

Actually, I think those are partial infrared shots. Ive looked into doing some of that myself, but I cant seem to find a good filter mount for the infrared filter.

  3. Don't misunderstand -- I like a bit of close-up action myself!

I think they were a mix of both in that gallery.

The IR features of the camera are pretty neat.

  5. Mode, that tree picture is the most interesting picture in this thread. I really like it.

Does anyone here use SLR cameras? I'm planning on getting one within the next few months. My art teacher reccomended the Nikon FM10, which isn't very expensive at $200, and it's fully manual (which the product name suggests).

  8. those are some amazing sunsets click_stick.

I think this is one of the best photos i've ever taken

the motion blur doesn't show up as nice when shrunk

  9. Since people seem to be pretty knowledgeable here about photography, I'll ask here.

I've been into amateur photography for a while now, and I finally want to upgrade to digital. I'm trying to decide between these three cameras and I was wondering if anyone had any input on them.

    Sony Cybershot DSC-V1
    Nikon Coolpix 5400
    Canon PowerShot G5

I originally decided on the Sony, but then I saw that the Nikon had better macro. That’s mainly what I do, low light and close-ups, so now I can't decide. Anyone have any opinions on any of these cameras?

Here's a picture I took a few weeks ago, following the trend of pictures of bugs.

I like how close I was able to get; filling a nice portion of the composition. I'm surprised that the grasshopper (which was huge) didn't jump away, because I had to geat real close to it. I don't have zoom. I think that the combination of the pattern and distortion of the window screen looks pretty neat, but it's too bad that all that can be seen is the photographer (which usually isn't good), a Ford Ranger, and the side of a neighbor's house. Man, if only I had the big green cable box from the edge of the yard, the collection of crap in the photo not supposed to be there would be complete. Oh well.
