Thread: Photography

  1. There are a lot of really nice photos in this thread. I am very impressed. So far my favourites are J2d's b/w ones. They are fantastic. Click_Stick has some really nice ones too. I'd like to get one of those Lomo cameras to mess around with one day. Mode 7 had some nice ones too, especially the one with the traffic light.

Icepop, you already know how much I like your photos. You should post the one from Guildford I really like.

Anyway... here are a few of mine. The quality is not as good as I'd like, because my old scanner was crap. Better than nothing. I have no scanner right now (I gave the junky one to my mum when I moved) so I can't upload anything new for the time being.

This first one was taken in the Prague Métro:

  2. Aerial photograph of Langjökull (glacier) in Iceland.

Not only did I take the pictures, but I also got to fly and land the plane.

Edit: Btw, some people say that you can't tell the perspective but those gaps/cracks are huge, big enough for a car to fall into...

SGGG: I love the second to last one, " Langjökull." The contrast between light on the right and dark on the left looks awesome, especially when paired with the general curving form of the cracks in the ice.

Ice: I remember the conditions being a little gloomy at the time. It was strange coming from Florida to DC, where the weather was upper 60's/lower 70's all the way through. I think I have a picture where the horizon line is slightly more level.

WTF? My new webspace wouldn't upload jpegs, but it does when I convert them to BMP back to jpeg... that's screwed up (and unfortunately it takes the hit of every conversion )

Anyway, here's a 1600 x 1200 sized picture (different attempt than before) of about the same angle. This is the original size of the picture, and the soft and grainy quality definitely shows the limitations of the 2.1 megapixel camera. However, I like being able to see an increased amount of building detail.

  4. Tones - Your link is busted.

sggg - Your final two are most impressive. Those giant, glistening ice sheets rekindle my impossible desire to go to Antarctica.

And there's something about big metal structures and comlicated wires that is very appealing...

Click, it wasn't working earlier (few hours ago), but it seems to be working now...

  7. j2d: Those are all fantastic. I'm going to use one as an avatar, if you don't mind. It's pretty much indestinguishable as such, but looks cool regardless.

sggg: The glacier shots are excellent, the second in particular. Must have been quite an experience.

Some great photos in this thread. Makes me wish I had a decent camera.

  8. Photography is probably my favorite thing in the world. For the last few years I've been slowly building up a porfolio and a certain degree of work. My favorite subject to shoot is mostly erotica, but I love just the entire process. Here are some examples.

Fire Dancer in Las Vegas. I attempted to capture the pattern she created.

    Teh porn!

  10. New roll developed. Kinda boring roll, at that.

And damnit, there is now something wrong with my camera. I'll be damned if I knew what it was. Sigh.

    Over the NJ Turnpike:

Not that visually pleasing, but it's fun to see planes nearly land on top of cars on the highway.
