Thread: Alt+Enter = Windowed/Fullscreen

  1. Alt+Enter = Windowed/Fullscreen

    Is there any way to set windows up (or the games i'm playing) so that pressing Alt+Enter doesn't switch a game from full-screen to windowed mode?

    This is really pissing me off because I play first-person-shooters with r.alt & r.ctrl as my strafe left/right keys, and enter is my reload key, so whenever I end up reloading while strafing left, the game freezes for 5 seconds, and goes into windowed mode.

    Anyone know where I change this kind of stuff?

  2. If the game is DOS based, you can make a PIF file (a DOS shortcut file basically, if you don't know), and set it up so that it won't intercept various key combinations like alt+enter, alt+esc, etc.

  3. Use WASD.

    Or ESDF if you're cool.

  4. ...or just use another key for reloading...

    i take it your using the Directional Arrows to move? so do i, but i reload with the 1 on the 10-Key pad. you might want to try that.

  5. Just right click the execute file and go to properties and under this tab misc..

    nope... I use

    R.Alt = Left Strafe
    R.Ctrl = Right Strafe
    Enter = Reload
    R.Shift = move backwards
    R.Mouse button = move forwards
    / = crouch
    Space = jump

    I've been using it for years now and i'm not about to change it

    I guess that only works for DOS games, I'm not sure how to turn them off in Windows based games, sorry

    That has to be the oddest setup I've heard of yet. Must be damned careful in your keyboard purchasing, since so many now have a Windows key in between alt and ctrl.

    I used the keypad for years but eventually moved over to ESDF after discovering I was running out of buttons for the more complex FPS'. Can't go back anymore.

    Same here. Though, at one point (early Quake 2 times), I did use W, E, R, and D.

    ...

    (Just now, the first time I've ever described the layout, I realized that it spells out "werd". Stupid me.)
