Thread: SSX 3

  1. I just picked it up. I got my roommates to give me $15 each, so that worked out nicely on my wallet heh.

I went with the Xbox one, the controls don't bother me at all. And the game looks fantastic. Only played it about 20 minutes, but I have nothing but good things to say about the game. I'll post better impressions in a couple days once exams are over (oh how I loathe exams...).

To repeat though, control is absolutely fine once you mess with the game a few minutes on the Xbox version. So if you don't mind missing out on online play and want better graphics (how much better, I have no idea), I'd say go with the Xbox one.

  2. I'm just checking in real quick to let you know that the PS2 version is a must buy.

I've been playing for like, 2 hours and the only thing that's bumming me out is that's it's gonna take forever to unlock Stretch Armstrong.

    More impressions tomorrow.

  3. IGN has a side to side comparison up, they even lay out the control scheme for each version.

  4. Absolutely love the game, looking at all the things to do on Peak 1 I don't know where to start and get overwhelmed by the fact that there are 2 more peaks. I briefly played around with some of the stuff I unlocked for Psymon (gas mask, tank top) and I really love the customizable characters. Also I took a quick look at a section called Career Highlights or something like that and it's pretty much a bunch of goals to accomplish beyond the ones on the peaks.

Overall I am amazed at the size of the game and I for one already love the soundtrack. At first I started trying all the events but quickly after 1 hour of that I went back to my previous strategy which was win all the races and build my stats to perform better in slopestyle and big air sections.

    Love the game.

  5. the game is great etc etc, but i have a question: is it possible to jump-cancel? in the previous games, all you had to do is press in the left analog stick while charging for a jump, but it doesn't work anymore.

anyway, i just ordered an xbox vga adapter (x2vga,) so i'll probably pick up a used copy of the xbox version at some point.
Yeah same here, plus the GC version which I was planning to get was coming out tomorrow(today or 22nd) so I said fuck that shit and got the PS2 version. I was also wondering while on the way to EB how I would pull off some of the shoulder tricks with the GC pad without having to do another trick since depressing the L/R buttons would obviously go into a trick and fully would be another.

What exactly makes the other two much better looking though Spike? Were the other two tv's running in regular modes compared to the PS2 version?

Anyway awesome game I love it, I'll get more into it later as I have a class right now.

  7. from what i've read, the gamecube's trick system is slightly simplified. it's simply not possible to do several of the moves, so your character will alternate between the tricks.

    i wish i wasn't at work..

  8. I second that wish. Perhaps the jump cancel is available once you set the controls to the professional setting. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I remember seeing control differences in the pro setting when it came to jumps. I'll try it when I get back from work.

  9. i don't see the benefit to using the pro config. you can't rotate your board underneath you while grinding, and more importantly, you can't turn while charging for a jump.

And If I weren't dying from the flu I've had for the past week or so, I'd be sitting on my front steps right now.
