Thread: SSX 3

  1. Well I got my answer concerning stalls. For anyone else interested (and it didn't seem that many of you were) when you go into a back flip lets say, push the pad in the opposite direction (forward for backflips) to perform a stall.

What's the purpose? Just to cancel a trick you might not land?

I never realize that had a name.

You could do it in tricky too.

Stalling is all about style and netting more points. I think the best bet for landing tricks is always to just remove your hands from the D-pad, and the boarder will try their best to get level as fast as possible.

  5. I'm ashamed how easily amused I am by simple things; I just got Elise's "bunny ears and tail" and "hot pants"...now I have my own snowboarding Vierra! Hurrah!

Started messing around on Peak 2 today, even though there's plenty left in Peak 1...the courses are just crazy...if they make a comparable leap at Peak 3, color me impressed.

  6. I unlocked Peak 3 today... I'm going back to Peak 2. #3 is a freaking NIGHTMARE. Not bad design, it's just damn hard. I thought Peak 2 was pretty challenging, 3 is just insane for me right now.
If my memory of her has an expiration date, let it be 10,000 years.

  7. Yea, the game almost gets to the point where the levels are so challenging I have more fun just messing around on the earlier stages. While my roommates have unlocked Peak 3 on their characters, I'm unlocking stuff slowly with Kaori. I've pretty much done Peak 1 completely save for a few BIG Challenges, and only messed with Peak 2 a little and Peak 3 even less (on their characters).

Snow Jam and R&B are just smooth sailing and a blast to play.

  8. Anyone own the cube version?

I have a coupon for a free 2-day rental. Problem is that I only have my cube handy at the moment. I tried all three quickly last week, and I thought it controlled well. Then I heard that some tricks were removed. How are you finding it?

Should I rent the cube version or the Hulk movie?

Rent the cube version then buy the PS2 version later

  10. How does the PS2 control so much better? The Xbox version has a "pro" setting too, but, I don't like it better, despite resolving the turbo/grab issue.

On Xbox, the pro setting puts Turbo on L-trigger, and Jump on R-trigger...while jumping with a trigger is doable, I guess, having to hold L-trigger while boosting is obnoxious.

I'm pretty disappointed they didn't provide a custom controls option, as I could have fixed it on Xbox easily enough myself.
