Thread: 100% Usage....Not good

  1. 100% Usage....Not good

Alright i finished my comp a while back, and now i noticed some problems... Sometimes my comp will run realllllyy slowly, and pages wont load and shit, and when i'm typing the letter will be very delayed to be shown on the screen. Sometimes i will get little '.' and '-' almost like morse code when typeing instead of letters. This happeneds on Word and on this message board. Basically everywhere.
Sometimes things will just open themselves, like searches and the drop down menus in Word. And this begining to piss me off. When i chek the CPU usages it spike, it will go from 5% to like 100% for no reason... When i have like IE and Winamp running ... What could the cause of this be, and how should i fix it?? a
You can never be one of the dead, because something that has no existence can have no community.

  2. www.grisoft.com - download AVG Anti-Virus
    www.lavasoft.de - download Ad Aware

You may have a virus or spyware in your system. Scan with those two immediately.

Check your processes. If you're in XP/2000/NT, look at the Task Manager. If in 9x or ME, check the Close Program box. Look for anything that seems to be taking huge amounts of RAM or CPU resources. Don't kill anything that looks like a system process (like explorer), but see if you can determine what is going on by looking at the activity.

What programs do you have running in your system tray? What programs are in your Start -> Programs -> Startup folder? Try running msconfig from Start -> Run, then look at what programs are in the Startup tab there.

  5. Do what lhadatt suggests and you should be cookies (that would be good).

  6. Sometimes it's just unavoidable though. Some programs are coded so shittilly (there's a word for Websters) that they have numerous memory leaks (or they don't free the memory they use when they complete), which just eat system resources for breakfast.
