Chewbacca is in the next Star Wars movie!!

The official Star Wars website reports that Star Wars: Episode III will further connect the Star Wars saga, bridging the prequel trilogy to the original trilogy in new and surprising ways. Familiar faces and places will return in the new film, which is currently in pre-production.

Reprising their classic roles from the original trilogy are actors Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker. They return to Star Wars as Chewbacca the Wookiee, C-3PO and R2-D2.

"I'm delighted to return as Chewbacca," Mayhew tells the site. "I think his re-appearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together, especially for Wookiee fans." Given that Chewbacca is a sprightly 200 years old in Episode IV, he is more than old enough to fit into the prequel timeline.

How are they going to fit the hairy beast in there though? Hmmm...

Why does everyone like Chewbacca so much? He's a tall, skinny, hairy muppet-thing...that has a laser crossbow. Sure, he's got some personality, and he's better than Jar Jar (pfft), but hardly what I would consider a call for rejoice.

Then maybe they're going to go into some of Hans past in this one too. Lucas has still restricted rights to write about certain chapters in Hans life to Star Wars novel writters.
